Russian Doll (Netflix)

Starring Natasha Lyonne. 8 episodes, premieres tomorrow, February 1st. Getting some really good reviews, figured I’d make a thread.

 

This is fucking stellar. Burned through the whole season and am gonna watch again.

Natasha Lyonne is fantastic and this really got interesting after that twist a few episodes in.

 

I just finished this and I absolutely loved it.

Yeah every time I see that in the credits that popped into my head.

 

This was really entertaining. Gina and I binged it all in one evening

 

Incredible. The lighting is so good too. Kind of wish they’d just leave it at the one season, though — loved the ending.

 

My wife and I are on Episode 5 I believe, but I have to agree about the lighting and cinematography. I specifically remember thinking to myself how great it looked when she was looking for Oatmeal in the park.

 

Loved Natasha Lyonne’s direction of the last episode. Major De Palma vibes from the use of overhead shots and that one split diopter.

On episode 5 now and something I’ve always noticed, in certain shots the faces of Nadia and Alan have a pasty orange hue and at first thought it was my TV. Considering they’re experiencing the same issue I’m wondering if it plays into what really going on.

 

I absolutely loved this show.

I have no idea what happened at the end of the last episode.

 

Finished it last night, really solid show.

My guess, by preventing each other’s original death in their separate timeline, they synced up within the parade to be on the same timeline and survived the night.

I binged this show last week and I would honestly turn around and watch it again, I enjoyed it that much. What a treat.

The Queer Wives Who Helped Make "Russian Doll" Tell All

 

I appreciate her so much, and all the things this show put to the front (both obviously and in a more subtle way).

 

I didn’t love the first episode, but now I’m totally hooked. Definitely going to binge the whole thing today.

I noticed quite a few things in the first episode that I’m sure will end up meaning a lot more once I’m done and go through again. I feel like maybe it wasn’t actually the first iteration or something. I’m especially curious to see what went down in the grocery store since they do pointedly didn’t show what happened behind the fruit or whatever it was.

 

I’m glad I stuck around past the first two episodes because this really gets great after that. Absolutely loved this.

 

This is one of the better Netflix shows.
