i have a pair of nike pegasus i have been using the last two years, they have been a good pair of running shoes but im probably gonna upgrade soon as i ran 6 miles the other day and i had gotten a blister from the bottom of one of them, and im doing a ragnar in august, don't think they would make it through, haha.

  2. that seems pretty likely. I've had these shoes for at least 2 or 3 years and I use them for pretty much anything athletically, including basketball, so they're wearing out a bit. I haven't historically ran much, but I'm starting to now, so I've been planning on getting new ones soon. I just don't have the ability to spend more than about $50 on some right now haha. thanks for the input

Any suggestions for pain in the inside of the shin? I know I'm probably not adequately stretching, but I'm not sure what to do for that. I don't think it is my shoes, as I've switched them out with a relatively unused pair. It sucks because I want to jump back into distance, but they give out a few miles in. I've been sticking with the bike until I feel I'm good to go.

I'd maybe try getting some arch support inserts for your shoes, just to see if that might make a difference. If not then I'd probably go see a specialist, just to make sure what's up

  5. like shin splint sort of pain? the pain for that can often be relieved with calf stretches. sometimes it's cause by the calves being too tight or too strong in comparison to the muscles in the front, so it can start to pull and stretch those muscles. I used to get shin splints a lot from running or basketball or anything with continued running or cutting and I found that stretching out my calves relieved the majority of it. a solid 3-5 minutes should generally be fine.

I've got a half on the 24th. Was out for 3 days due to having the flu and the 4th was because of work and baseball opening day. Gonna be tough to ease back into mileage while still getting ready for the race.

trying to run more when it gets warmer out. I was starting to run a few weeks ago, but my lungs were absolutely burning. going to start when it gets warmer and throughout the summer and I can hopefully use that training to push through the fall and winter. pretty dumb to try to start anew when it's 50 degrees out if you haven't run in months, but live and learn.

I just feel like my body operates better in those conditions; like last summer in my running clubs, in July and August when it'd still be in the 80's at 6pm when our runs were, I'd sweat like crazy, but still felt amazing

i usually run in dry heat and handle it okay. i was in florida after a rainstorm and did 3 miles and it almost killed me.

Running in AZ and Texas (hell even Afghanistan) were always much better than running in Jersey. I think a lot of that is the pollen though.

Nice! Any place you run around there? I go to ECHO lake a lot just because we take our dog to the park there.

I mostly stay local for right now. I either go through town or up to the reservation. The building I work in is pretty huge, so I tend to do laps at lunch.
