So I got an Apple Watch for Christmas and just did my first run with it. I’ve had a Garmin for a couple of years but am going to test the different gps in them. My question is I did a run using the workout app and now I can’t figure out how to upload that run to Strava. Anyone know how to?

Don't have a clue how to do it with the stock workout app. I don't think the two apps can talk. You might have to just do a manual upload to Strava. I would download the Strava app for the watch and you should be gtg for the most part.

Ran an easy 4 today with virtually no knee pain. I thought at one point it was about to happen, and then it didn't. I was pretty thrilled. Small victory. I stretched the beJesus out of it today long before the run and right before. Ramped up my stretching, foam rolling, and strengthening since last week. I know it's not over; i'll still keep on this regime and take it easy easing back into it, but damn I liking knowing that I "beat it" for a day.

(nervous that it will come back next run Saturday or Sunday )

I ordered a pair of Escalates yesterday after trying some on at a shop awhile back. For those 2 minutes I had them on, they were indeed heaven. Prob wont get them til end of Jan.

also joined the Escalantes club for Christmas. I only ran with them once but it felt like I was on a cloud.

still trying to shake this chest cold I’ve had for weeks, it’s rough.

16.25 miles today. Barely managed 12 miles in total last week, so nice to get the marathon training back on track. Still three months to go.

Getting started with marathon training for the RnR in June. Gonna try to build to 35 comfortably before I start the 4 month training plan.

I’ve started training for a marathon later in the year as well. Not sure which one or when, but I’ll be ready. Got a half lined up on Feb 11th I’m trying to prep for currently. I’m doing a 27 miler trail “fun run” in March that I’m stoked for. And I’m currently sitting here waiting for yoga class to start. My first. Should be interesting.

Good things are on the horizon.

Just got my Escalante's in. They sent gray instead of the red I ordered, and I normally do a 10 in most running shoes even Altra Torin, but these 10's are too big. A full thumb width from big toe to tip. May have to exchange for a 9.5. :( I don't want to wait any longer to run in them. :/

Yesterday, I picked up my custom-made orthotics that my podiatrist made me...and holy shit are they uncomfortable. Have no idea how people run in these things.

What material were they made out of? My brother and father had orthotics (and loved them) for a decent while and I think they have to take some time to mold to your feet even though they shape them with a mold.

No clue. They're definitely kind of hard. I thought they'd be more of a gel or softer material. It doesn't hurt or anything, just takes some getting used to. Problem is, I only need to wear them when I'm running, so I'm not wearing them in like - work shoes.

I got them last night and put them in my bball shoes and just walked around for a few hours, wore them to dinner, etc. I even ran along the sidewalk. Just feels extremely different for now. More pressure toward the heel and inside portion of the middle part of my foot. He said to give it a good month. To be honest, I'm a little nervous to go all out in them, fearing I may subconsciously run a little differently or something and end up tweaking something else.

I used the inserts on my lunch break...once I ran for a few minutes, didn't even notice they were in my shoes.

I don’t want this thread to just be us complaining about injuries, but damn...... now my Achilles on my left foot hurts. Only when I put on shoes; Not barefoot. Like only when there is pressure on the back of my foot. It’s weird. Maybe achilles tendinopathy? “Seems” right according to some searching. If it doesn’t get better with some simple treatment I might head to my doc.

I “beat” one thing and it transitions right into another without fail.

ya my running is still held up by this hip thing. might have to stick to bike/swim for a while. bummerrrrr

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Your splits on Strava are still wild dude. Guessing the pain is just too much to handle? Tried to push through lifting and running with lower back injury last year and it was a terrible decision haha.

Barring the national security angle, this story is quite an important reminder about the dangers of using these apps. I used to have all my data public but then I realised just how much personal information someone could gather about me (where I live, work, habits etc). I still have an account but keep it private...

I managed 38 miles last week which is a new record. Just off to do an easy 10 miles, so that should have me reach 115 miles for the month, also a record :-)

I'm raising money for the local hospice as part of my marathon. Tomorrow evening I'm going to a 'prepare for the marathon' event that they are organising. It should be nice to get to meet some of the other runners and get some tips from experts, but I'm not massively looking forward to returning to the hospice itself as it's where my dad died and I'm worried it will bring back all those sad memories.
