Forgot to share in here. Ran my first marathon in a year last weekend, in honor of my high school coach who passed away last fall. Extremely meaningful race for me, and my second best marathon time/a big improvement over some so-so races in 2024. Hoping to build on this and snag a PR in Chicago this fall.
God damn it was hot this morning on the track. Thought we could beat it getting out early. Not a fan!
ran utah valley half marathon yesterday. 1:30:10. signed up for another in 2 weeks. hoping i can finally stay injury free and build off that.
Finally found this thread! Really started taking running semi-seriously this year and signed up for the Brooklyn Experience Half last minute on a whim in Feb, with 2 months training time. Was the first long race I’ve ever done, however I did way better than I ever expected! Now I'm hooked and doing my second half in two weeks lol Looking through this thread though...you guys are fast!!! Damn!
did another canyon half today. lots of downhill in the first 7 miles but i feel good with where i’m at.
Is there anyone here who can run sub-4? Also has anyone done a Heart Rate test? I just did the Joe Friel 30 min one and I’m much happier about my zones after doing it.
At first I thought you meant marathon then my brain woke up. I think my fastest mile (non treadmill) is somewhere around 7 flat. I’ve been wanting to do one for awhile now. It’s hard without track access.
There are only a couple thousand people who have ever run sub-4, not sure of the exact number but it’s in the low 4 digits. Went just barely sub-5 exactly one time and that was so hard for me that I probably will never bother running a timed mile again since something like 4:30 feels so completely out of reach haha
I’ve raced a mile twice since high school, both around 4:40. Such a tricky distance. Even if I really worked at it, I feel like I’d have trouble getting much beyond 4:30.
Yeah, ideally, you do it at a track, and it’s one beer before every lap. Beers have to be at least 5% ABV, you have to finish the beer before you start running, and you have to run an extra mile if you puke.
