http://www.stereogum.com/1909849/ki...ebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=timeline Really unfortunate that he's such a sore loser
Think it goes hand in hand with all the other stuff he's said post Bernie losing in the primaries not just this single incident
fucking hell. no. the point he is trying to make is that black voters turn out in droves and then have their interests ignored or explicitly worked against. he is communicating a frustration with the fact that the people who *depend* on black votes either ignore them or brutalize them the second they get into office. every time black voters play ball, the political actors take that ball and smash it into their face, repeatedly. he's saying they should just take their ball and go home, because then those politicians and institutions are fucked. if your interests arent represented by the people you vote for, why would you continue to vote for them? it runs contrary to the entire democratic project. laughing at or mocking him for being irate that he has felt betrayed by political institutions is gross and displays a political ignorance thats at least a little concerning coming from RTJ fans.
2100 is different enough that even though it doesn't really sound as good as it could i appreciate it a lot
I've had that line running through my head this whole week. "2100" is incredible too, it nearly had me in tears when I first heard it. Not to say these guys aren't always great and important, but with these elections results their music and music like it feels much more important.
