Eh, I haven't listened yet, and even though I loved both RTJ and RJT2, I kinda felt like they were starting to get boring too. Cautiously optimistic. Also, didn't they say that RTJ3 was gonna come out in 2016?
Agreed. I liked the first so went and copped the second on vinyl and it was a giant let down. I get the appeal in the same way I get why POS was an AP legend but I'm pretty much over them tbh
My issue is that El-P and Killer Mike have both become insanely predictable. I don't remember the last time I heard them drop a rhyme or some flow that really wowed me. Dudes sound like they're just going through the motions.
i don't like RTJ1 that much, thought 2 was a much better album, but i agree that this sounds fairly predictable. more than that, though, it sounds really clinical and calculated - not formulaic per se, but it just doesn't feel like it has the same raw energy that 2 did. they got a little bit more experimental (for them) on that album, too, with tracks like early and crown, so hopefully they follow that path
This pretty much. It's like "oh this is our most popular thing and gets us festival slots. Let's keep doing this I guess"
