I understood his arguments initially even if I didn't necessarily agree (and still do to some extent) but making videos for the NRA is something that you can't walk back from. There's speaking up for the right to protect yourself in a white supremacist society and then there's chilling out with corrupt lobbyists who don't care what happens to people as long as profit margins increase.
His tweets responding to the backlash https://news.avclub.com/killer-mike-defends-gun-ownership-in-interview-to-nra-t-1824052480
The commenter in that article is dead on about the NRA being silent about the Philando Castile killing. How the hell can Mike use them as a platform like that when they won't even defend black gun owners? If Killer Mike was in Philando Castile's position, he'd be abandoned too.
His staunch defense of ARs has always weirded me out but this is on a whole new level. How can someone as intelligent as him say something like "if my kids participate in the school walkout they can walk out of my house?" So fucking disappointing
Welp done with these guys Doubt lorde is gonna be too happy about it if she finds out , they deserve to be booted off the tour
Someone posted his response in the politics thread. Two short videos that address the situation. Probably worth a watch.
El-P coming to Mike’s defense. Gotta respect the loyalty, you can really tell how much these guys love each other.
He can say the NRA weaponized his interview in a way he didn’t expect , but he still said he’d kick his kids out of his house if they marched, which is fucking bullshit.
yeah it's messed up and I disagree with it vehemently but are we really saying its worth being kicked off of a tour?
I honestly hope they still just stick with El-P production, Rick Rubin can be kind of hit or miss when it comes to hip-hop (controversial opinion I know)
