My goodness they leveled up big time. Kurt really pulling that melody from Gold Necklace and Eternity Forever into this project. This doesn't sound like ALLB, but it's reminding me of them in that it seems like this has moved into "main focus band" territory and away from the side project sound.

EDIT: Even If rules, and they are confident enough in these 10 songs to not put it on the album. Pretty bold but I'm all for a 10 song post-hardcore album that gets in and out with no filler. Let's get it.

 

A couple other thoughts related to them and DGD:

If the rest of the album is as good as these two songs, I have no problem saying this is the best thing Kurt and Will have done together. Please don't bring Kurt back to DGD and let Royal Coda keep killing it.

This is so good that what little sadness I felt about skipping new DGD is gone. Genuinely like these two songs more than any DGD since like... Mothership. This is about to be a top 10 record for me this year I think.

Man the chorus for slowly SLAYS

 

I need to catch up on Kurt stuff, his two DGD albums are far and away my favorite thing from that band, and I remember liking ALLB but didn't really jump around after that. I think I'm gonna start myself on a Kurt discog runthrough

 

He’s pretty hit or miss for me post DGD. I do like both the ALLB albums he’s on, and prefer Conversation Piece, and the Eternity Forever EP rules. His solo stuff is really a mixed bag. Even Royal Coda up until these 3 new songs was just okay to me.

 

I'm extremely intrigued by the response to this so far. Haven't listened to any of it because I've arbitrarily decided to go in completely blind, but my expectations are sky high now, and if they're not met, I'm gonna take it out on all of you.
