Round one is here. 62 years of albums with 2 convenient ties. What album will come out on top?

NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU'VE HEARD BOTH ALBUMS. STOP DOING THIS SHIT.

For this matchup, we start with:

    (31) David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

    vs.

    (34) Led Zeppelin - IV

  6. Love Ziggy. I have somehow never listened to IV (and I'm familiar with Zeppelin), so I'll do that on the way home today

  11. Very certain this one goes to Ziggy in the end for me, but I haven’t listened to IV in a super long time and should at least refresh myself/give it some thought

This is such an unfortunate matchup, but I have to side with Bowie here.

Two albums I’ve never heard in full:embarrassed:

Somehow made it through my high school explore the classics phase without doing Zep or Bowie, half my life later still due

I think my ultimate take here is that:

    1) IV has higher highs.
    2) Ziggy Stardust is a better album.

So, going Bowie on this one.

Ziggy rules but Zoso is basically the platonic ideal of a rock album. Just a brutal matchup. But every single song on IV is a killer and set the template for a decade to come.

i think the same could say about Ziggy and it has a wider range of influence, imo, but i love IV too. toughest matchup of this bunch on paper, though picking Ziggy isn't "tough" for me

Toughest matchup yet imo. These are two of my dad’s favorite albums so I heard them both constantly growing up. Both 10/10, first ballot hall of famers. Basically a coin toss for me, but I went with Bowie.

Stairway is one of those songs that you feel like you’ll circle back to one of these times and find overrated but..nope, never is.

I dont entirely agree with Jon Brion here but its an interesting perspective. And topical:

The level of talent in Zeppelin was unreal. Every time I hear Bonham play the drums I forget to breathe.
