"Disarm" is definitely one of the Pumpkins songs I've loved the longest. Not sure if it would be my favorite song on there these days, but it's probably in the top 5. Probably my favorite Corgan vocal.

 

i definitely want the best guitar player of his generation who isn’t a good singer to barely play guitar and really try to sing

 

Born To Run is my fave ever so wins by default.

I mean, he's not Chris Cornell, but I like Corgan as a singer more than most of the vocalists from that particular rock era. *Shrug*

hottest siamese dream take is while it's obviously too slight to be the best song, sweet sweet is quite possibly my favorite 2 minutes of the album

You're right, sorry I misread, I just felt like you were really hammering the "Craig likes Americana, lol" point. Which, for the record, I've been a fan of the Pumpkins for as long as I've been a fan of anything resembling Americana! I do tend to rate their ballads a little higher than most people probably do, but one of the things I've always admired about Corgan, especially in those early days, was his ability to do these ripping hard rock songs and then turn around and pull off a super moving acoustic confessional, or a perfect sparkling pop song. His versatility is what is most interesting to me about him.

 

yeah i was just saying why that particular song doesn’t work for me and never really has. it takes everything that i love about the pumpkins and tosses it in the trash. and also on an album that seems pretty singular and does it’s own thing, feels like the only thing that is attempting to be a bit more in line with what would get them on the radio.

“Disarm” is an all-timer. It’s the song that made me decide to listen to Pumpkins records rather than just enjoy them sometimes on the radio.

Easy vote, even if it's Bruce's 4th or 5th best album. Corgan's writing is too inconsistent for me, it's either a great song or a terrible song. It seems he has no in between.
