Round one is here. 62 years of albums with 2 convenient ties. What album will come out on top? NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU'VE HEARD BOTH ALBUMS. STOP DOING THIS SHIT. For this matchup, we start with: (28) Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream vs. (37) Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band - Born to Run
again, probably my third or fourth favorite by one artist vs a top 20 (in this case top 10) album ever for me. an easy call.
It's Siamese Dream for me but I have to be in a mood for Springsteen. SP was just more formative for me, musically
Even if Born to Run was just the “Jungleland” solo, it would still get my vote. Greatest album ever made. Siamese Dream is also great, I’ll pour one out for it later.
i mean, im in the minority, but it's hardly an uncommon thing to see someone have a handful of bruce albums above it in their personal rankings. you can see that in the bruce thread on this very site lol. let alone from every other musician ever. but yes, im not surprised bruce will likely win against this album, which i like exponentially more. this album should have likely been seeded higher, if we're considering actual contenders. though, to be fair, this album almost didn't even make it winning only by one vote (27) with siamese dream winning by six (33) with nearly the same vote totals.
Yeah, I guess vote numbers are probably in inexact science for seeding, since some years had two or more clear contenders duking it out, while others were runaways. Both of these probably should have gotten less beloved albums as their first-round opponents, but what can you do?
This is extremely tough. Best pumpkins album vs one of the best Springsteen albums. Still think I gotta go Bruce
right, looking at the list, this personally isn't even the toughest vote for me, and it's only gonna get tougher in further rounds
Never been too big of a Springsteen fan personally, and Born to Run wouldnt be my fav record of his if I had to choose one and SD is the best SP record sooooo its SD for me. One of my favorite records to come out of the 90s too.
right haha, it's an easy choice for me, but it's gonna be hilarious if the vote between the #2 seed and a tiebreaker is actually close
