My favorite with music is the "I've never even HEARD of [insert song/album/artist here]," as if their lack of awareness means the thing in question is not worthwhile.

  2. Just wanna point out that amorningofsleep frequently promotes female artists on this site across multiple genres. If you’re familiar with the user at all, folklore is simply & clearly not gonna be their thing haha. Their snark was unnecessary but the toxic masculinity thing is unfair

But yeah encouraging discovery should outweigh simply voting for your faves here — listen to both if you wanna vote (I discovered a pretty good Blondie record earlier today!)

Oh yeah I see that shit allllll the time on Twitter.

  4. It's Remain in Light for me. There's no denying Taylor's talent and how she's continued to grow as a songwriter, but I have yet to really connect with her the way much of this site has. Both solid records, but RIL deserves its legacy and just means more to me.

Just about to finish Remain in Light for the first time. Once in a Lifetime could be the best song ever. Talking Heads kinda bore me at album length tbh. But feels like you can’t ignore context when assessing their value. Kind of feel these are two impossible albums to compare and not gonna vote but I’d prob vote for this if I had heard it earlier.

Never listened to any TH stuff before so this was easy to get the poll evenly split 50.50

It was said elsewhere, but you should listen to both albums before you vote. Otherwise you are not giving a fair shake to the matchup.

  14. Voted for folklore for similar reason as Chris but glad to see this one finish as close as it did. Remain In Light is great

Not well versed in either artist, so I had never listened to either of these albums before this week. I was pleasantly surprised by "Folklore". I may actually go back and check out more of her discography now. "Remain in Light" felt a lot more special though. For an album that's over 40 years old, it felt like it must have been a big influence on many bands to follow, and yet still felt like it could have come out recently. Another band that I'm going to have to go back through their catalog and get well versed in their stuff. RIL gets my vote in the end.

As it is a tie, I will be flipping a coin best 2 out of 3 for the winner. since they both begin with T, Taylor will be heads since folklore is closer to H and Talking Heads tails, with remain in light closer to T.

    Flip 1 Heads
Flip 2 Heads, no need for a third

Taylor Swift's Folklore moves onto the round of 32 with the tiebreaker. ho hum.

Your obvious next listen should be evermore, which is essentially part 2 of folklore. I would personally suggest checking out Lover after that BUT go into it knowing that there are some clunkers. The best half of the album is probably my favorite material she's ever released however.
