Round one is here. 62 years of albums with 2 convenient ties. What album will come out on top? For this matchup, we start with: (17) Bon Iver - Bon Iver vs. (48) U2 - The Joshua Tree
The Joshua Tree is great, and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes far, but it's absolutely BI, BI for me
On this site, I expect Bon Iver will win, and I do love that album, but The Joshua Tree is an all-time top 10 for me, so it's an easy choice.
they almost have an underrated element to them now, which is insane given where they were like 20 years ago, but the kids have turned on them in such a big way
Could never get into Bon Iver after trying for years. U2 is pretty great. And this is possibly them at their best. Easy choice for me.
I really do love JT as it was a staple in my house growing up, but BI,BI is such a special record it gets the +1.
never got huge into U2 despite giving them multiple shots. Still like the album, but not head over heels for it. Also not a mega-BI fan, but BI,BI is pretty cool. I give the edge to BI here
Pretty brutal matchup. BI, BI gets the edge for me. On a purely musical level it had a massive influence on me and opened my eyes to other roles drums and percussion can play in music Two fun AP memories regarding BI, BI. I said at some point that Perth was one of the best album openers and got called an idiot who didn’t know anything because Thunder Road exists. Also always chuckle at the immediate reaction to Beth/Rest calling it “corny” just for there to be a huge wave of 80s inspired music soon after
Lol it was not! They’re still around though. Made me laugh when a few years later they said almost verbatim what I said. People really do change!
I used to say Beth/Rest was the only good song on the album, but I eventually came around to the others
i wasn’t on the boat when FEFA dropped but i’ve been a day 1 with BI, BI. perfect album, my favorite of last decade
