Voted for Neil. Pinkerton is the one Weezer album I really love, but On the Beach is just too sad and beautiful to ignore.

I'm not a huge fan of his voice, which I think has been the stumbling block for me so far. I love the songwriting and really really love the playing.

I eventually reached a point in my music fan journey where I very much appreciate unique voices. When I know exactly who he is singing, that’s a relief after dozens and dozens and dozens of “good” voices that I can’t distinguish from one another. And then I got really into Neil and Leonard and Waits and…

Yeah, I get that. For the record, it's not even that I dislike less technically gifted but unique vocalists, even if the classical voice major in me is always going to have an immediate preference for the better singers. There are just certain tones and vocal timbres that I struggle with a bit, and Neil Young has always fallen into that category.

I initially had a hard time getting into Neil Young when I attempted years ago. Definitely an acquired taste vocally but once you get over that hurdle he has an insanely stacked discography (minus most of the 80s). I think some of his records with Crazy Horse are fairly accessible if you're just starting off and want something that leans more into rock. I even love some of his newer records like Psychedelic Pill but he is more hit or miss the past couple decades imo.

I can put on On The Beach any day of the week and be happy with my decision. One of my favorite Neil albums front to back so that's where my vote goes.

    also blue album > pinkerton

Was going to vote Pinkerton pretty easily, but revisited On the Beach because it's been awhile since I've listened.

Voted On the Beach pretty quickly after that.

Yeah, "Motion Pictures (For Carrie)" sealed the deal for me. Voted Neil. There are some awesome moments on Pinkerton (that filthy, filthy guitar solo on "Tired of Sex," in particular) but that album has always made me a little uneasy, and there's some absolutely gorgeously sad shit on this Neil Young record. Will definitely be spending more time with this.

Every song on it rules, but I once had “Ambulance Blues” hit on shuffle right as I got to the summit of this little mountain on a hike and it was one of the coolest things to ever happen to me so that one always takes it

Never realized Andrew McMahon's Upside Down Flowers art was an homage to a Neil Young album, but it has to be, right?

My one unpopular opinion here is I think Revolution Blues is (or at least was when I was getting into Neil) a little bit overrated. Good song, but if I have an on the beach criticism it’s that that and Vampire Blues aren’t quite as 10/10 as the rest.

This is almost certainly uninteresting to everyone but i just remembered Weezer’s tour manager in the early 2000’s was named Neil Young. Probably most notable for recording “Everybody Go Away” (which is to say, not very notable)

I had never heard On the Beach before and have probably listened to it about 20 times since first listening to it a few days ago. An absolute gem that connected with me right away.

Pinkerton never did anything for me no matter how many times I’ve tried over the years. Not surprised to see it winning but sad as a newfound fan of On the Beach to see how much it’s winning by :-/
