mvotc is so frontloaded for me, easily my least favorite vw album. I find finger back and worship you pretty mid, ya hey has the awful vocal effect, Hudson more interesting than good imo, and then young lion is fine I guess. It’s an amazing record in the first half but I like the other 3 a lot better as wholes.

Disagree with everything you just said about those songs

MVOTC is absolutely my least favorite as well. It's the most musically bland, and I'll never understand why people seem to think it's their masterpiece

Ya Hey is such an obnoxious song

Rostam’s experimental presence is super strong on that album. I also love the quirkiness in the vocals. That’s on every one of their albums, come to think of it. I guess some may have a problem with the distortion, but I dig it.

"Ya Hey" is an all-timer, as is "Everlasting Arms"

"Outside the tents, on the festival grounds
As the air began to cool, and the sun went down
My soul swooned, as I faintly heard the sound
    Of you spinning 'Israelites'
    Into '19th Nervous Breakdown'

Through the fire and through the flames
You won't even say your name
Only 'I am what I am'
But who could ever live that way?
    Ut deo, ya hey."

How do you not fuck with those lyrics?

FOTB grew on me quite a bit but it’s a bit of a let down because all 3 previous albums are masterpieces (Contra is my fave though).

I’ve never really gotten into Jimmy the way most people here are but I had a nice moment with Clarity like a year or two ago where I recognized it as the classic it is. Vote definitely goes to Clarity.

It absolutely might be their best lyrical album, but I don't think the rest of the parts of the songs match up

My boring opinion is A-Punk is still their best song, but Hannah Hunt’s way up there

Step is probably their best for me. Combines everything they do well.
