Half of our yearly winners remain. The matchups are getting tougher. Who will proceed? RAGING BULL Jake LaMotta:And though I'm no Olivier, if he fought Sugar Ray, he would say that the thing ain't the ring, it's the play. So give me a stage where this bull can rage, and though I can fight, I'd much rather recite. That's entertainment. Versus... TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME Laura Palmer: Quit trying to hold on so tight. I'm gone. Long gone. Like a turkey in the corn. James Hurley: You're not a turkey. A turkey is one of the dumbest birds on earth. Laura Palmer: Gobble. Gobble-gobble. The winner will move on to the next round. The full bracket is attached below.
Agreed. I love Fire Walk With Me, and haven’t seen Raging Bull in over a decade, but that’s partially a testament to how powerful I found Raging Bull. I should revisit it sometime soon, I’m sure there’s so much more I’d appreciate now vs when I was 17.
I like fire walk with me more, but I think without the context of the show there's no way it holds up against raging bull which is also a masterpiece. incredible match up where either winner is worth it but im taking marty
i would not be upset about RB winning the whole thing. i would be upset if one of the Lynch ones did.
I don't see how any Lynch one would win over the 'classic top 10' of anyones list... (And by classic top 10, I Mean - Godfather, Shawshank, etc....)
Maybe Dune, but you never want to be in a situation where your bragging line is that you are better than Lynch's Dune.
Lynch understands cinema in such a compelling way. Sequences from his films are often imitated but never with the same power or majesty. There’s a reason “Lynchian” has become such a popular descriptor, though it’s become one of the most overused and misunderstood words in entertainment discourse. The “Silencio” and parking lot scenes in Mulholland Drive alone are enough to be dissected endlessly, and why Mulholland Drive is where I became enamored with his craftsmanship. He’s a master.
