A show that starts like a modern Gilligan's Island but goes in strange directions versus what appears to be a typical Western but raised to Shakespearean heights, who will you pick?
This vote really hurts since both should move forward and they each mean a lot to me. Lost has a longer history in my life, but Deadwood is flawless and beautiful and I can’t possibly vote to knock it out first round. I would be happy for it to end up facing The Sopranos as a final two given what we have.
Deadwood. Watched it for the first time 6 months ago and I still think about it all the time. The cast is insane
Swearengen is one of the all-time great characters. He appears truly villainous, but as you get to know him you start to see his behavior as a very harsh paternalistic effort to protect the camp, which is obviously primarily selfish but ends up extending itself to his employees and even others in town. What other show has characters giving monologue that reveals their deepest fears and regrets while they are in the middle of receiving oral sex?
