Round of 32 (Old Dramas): Friday Night Lights vs. Twin Peaks

Two shows that take very different looks at modern suburban life. Who will move ahead?

 

Twin Peaks is going to win anyway so, Texas forever

 

If it was just The Return, I would vote Twin Peaks, but Friday Night Lights is probably the best show that isn't about murderers and/or general anti-heroes in morally dubious worlds.

 

I adore Friday Night Lights but have to go with Twin Peaks.

 

The quality of Twin Peaks can be all over the map, but it's so iconic. Its highs are as high as any show ever made.

Another very, very rough match for me lol. The Return is probably my favorite piece of any media in like, the last decade? And while I like the original run, it’s uneven at best. FNL could also be uneven but I rewatch it like once a year and is the definition of a comfort show for me.

The Friday Night Lights pilot is awesome, and then for the most part it’s pretty good aside from the horrible second season. Twin Peaks is just so unique and it’s highs are as good or better than anything, pretty easy choice.

 

Twin Peaks has some very bad patches (especially in Season 2 when Lynch is gone) but The Return is one of the best things ever to happen to the entire medium of television so yea... Twin Peaks it is

 

If you like Letterboxd, there is a version now for TV shows called Serializd. I don't think it has all the same functions yet, but it is a good way to log your viewing.
