I mean The Middle is clearly their best song.

 

tbh "our song" is a pretty lame/eye-rolly concept to me. cranberries "dream" was our wedding dance song. it's nice when we hear it together in the four years since but it's not like that song gets dropped a ton. there isn't a ton of romance to telling a wedding DJ "hey press play on this tune when we start dancing"

 

i would be interested in seeing if the big JEW heads in here actually agreed with this. i don't think it would be in my top 10. that's like saying wonderwall is the best oasis song. it plainly is not.

 

I’m not even sure The Middle would make a top 100 from me

 

It’s a fun song and it makes me smile whenever I hear it but they’ve absolutely surpassed it in the last 21 years since it’s been out

 

it's one of the better songs they'll play at an Emo Nite but that's about it

 

Not even not the worst single from its album imo

we can make this an oasis thread, sure. much like the middle, it’s better than a lot of the songs it’s classed with on the radio. it’s just not as good as 5-8 songs on its accompanying album

 

I think the difference between Wonderwall and The Middle is pretty huge. Don't blame Wonderwall for being surrounded by great songs all around, while The Middle is clearly o e of the worst on its album.

the only time there are really disagreements are when we are discussing Jimmy Eat World, a band i like a good amount with an album i love lol. y'all don't have to get this foaming at the mouth about it!

 

Futures is my fav JEW album but c’mon it’s Purple Rain lol

As much as I love Futures, “Nothingwrong” (I think that’s the one) always stood out as being a bit of an oddity on the record. And then they went and did it again with “Firefight” on CTL and “Action Needs an Audience” on Invented. I know those songs have fans but I always tend to skip those songs when listening to those albums.

Meanwhile I listened to “Disintegration” off the SOMS EP yesterday for the first time in a long time and forgot how much I enjoy that song so I’m more so in the camp of the slower JEW songs sticking with me more than the faster/louder ones
