Time. “I Don’t Want to Know” was shorter and they were up against the limits of the vinyl format. Or so Mick has claimed.

 

Ken Caillat swears up and down there was no way to order the album with Silver Springs that allowed it to fit on vinyl. Saw him speak a few years ago at NAMM and he said they tried every possible combination and couldn't get it to work. I do think it's a shame that I Don't Want To Know always gets shit talked any time Silver Springs is brought up. It's a good song!

 

I mean, don't get me wrong: I love "Silver Springs." But it wouldn't be higher than fifth in my Rumours rankings if it were on the album.

always loved the interpolation this band did too

 

"Dreams" is an all-time top 100 song for me, so that's my easy favorite on Rumours, "Silver Springs" included. If forced to rank, I probably also prefer "Go Your Own Way," "Gold Dust Woman," and "The Chain." Depends on the day with "Songbird."

 

Stevie gives one of the great vocal performances in rock history on “Gold Dust Woman” some of the wailing she does in the background toward the end is just insane

 

Dreams > Silver Springs > rest of Rumours

Gold Dust Woman really is phenomenal though, also close

 

I thought Lindsey blocked "Silver Springs" from the album because it was so biting (and also because it kinda steals the show). I'm serious, thought I read that on the Wikipedia page or something

 

Second Hand News is one of my faves of the album. A pretty strong, fun opener for such a dramatic album

I honestly can’t stand Don’t Stop. The Chain, Dreams, and Silver Springs are cool though

 

My friend, this list rocks but is notably missing “What Makes You Think You’re the One”

 

It wasn’t included because it didn’t fit on the Vinyl apparently (or so Mick said to Zane Lowe earlier this year). When they did the remasters a few years back they added it back on.

That’s definitely been at the very least strongly rumored. It’s both easy to believe and difficult to imagine given some of the other songs on that album. I know Stevie has said she was offended by several lines in Go Your Own Way. So who knows what really happened there

 

I do agree Silver Springs is top shelf but I can’t imagine not thinking Landslide is part of the conversation

 

so my opinion that Silver Springs goes too hard is actually canon. that's awesome.
