This is extremely tough. Mellon collie probably has songs that I like more and stuff I like less

That's the thing for me. My favorite songs on Mellon Collie are probably up there with my favorite songs from Rumours. But there's a lot of stuff on there that I don't go back to a lot, whereas Rumours is front-to-back flawless and gets way more full-album listens from me. If I'm voting on which one is my preferred album, it's no contest.

I won’t stand for Christine McVie slander

  6. Probably a different Pumpkins record would get my vote, but MC is a little too uneven. There are songs I love on it but as a record I don’t reach for it very often

It is a classic and speaking of riffs this is not an easy one to play by any means! Show’s how great of player Lindsey is.

The fact that it’s so cool on record and then the live version he plays is just as cool blows my mind. Such a great musician

For sure, I've seen a lot of people online saying that they aren't a fan of his live slowed down version but I think it hits so hard, especially at the end.

I can't wait to see him live solo finally next month.

Oh Daddy is easily worse than any song off of MC, but the rest is good to “wow that’s a perfect song” (and there’s a few of the latter)

Also “Silver Springs” is awesome, and it would have been nice if it was on the record, but people act like they’ve never heard of a B-side when they talk about this record

Edit: And this is a hot take but I don’t think Stevie delivers such an absurdly definitive version on The Dance if she didn’t have something to prove after it didn’t make the tracklist.

I mentioned this in the original year thread, but wherever I downloaded my copy of Rumours from 15 or so years ago, had Silver Springs in the tracklist, track 7 in between Songbird and The Chain.

It wasn’t until someone mentioned in the original thread that it was a B-Side, that I realised it wasn’t part of the original album.

Listening to the album in this (bogus) form for however many years, and I can’t imagine Silver Springs in any other place.

Love both albums but Mellon Collie is tied for top 2 of all time for me (with Siamese Dream), so yeah.

I’m too lazy to look it up, but have they ever given a reason for not including Silver Springs?

It definitely falls in that rare category of b-side where it’s gobsmacking that the band didn’t include it.
