Looooved my first listen of this. Actually mood-wise feels the closest to Los Angeles imo. Or it could be the unabashed artistry here that reminds me of it. Either way, v excited to dig deeper along with the other albums. Her whole discography really is excellent
Definitely need to give this another listen. I day dreamed a bit during the later stages, so some of it may have washed over me. It’s good, but not something that hits you immediately. Not for me, anyway. Likely to be a slow burner. May not have helped that I listened to the new Danny Brown immediately preceding this, so my brain was WIRED and coming down after that.
Putting this on at 9am sharp let's see what's up. I liked Motomami, not something I returned to a ton, but clearly an incredible songwriter and artist made that. Very interested in this
Grab a nice cup of tea or coffee and enjoy - perfect way to listen lol. Felt the same way about her previous material and LUX blew me away
This will definitely need more listens. At first I wasn't sure how I felt, I think some of the earlier tracks that are mostly just her + strings didn't do as much for me, but as it went on either she started adding or I started picking up better on more of the production flares and subtle bits of artistry. De Madruga caught my ear like none of the previous tracks had and by the time I got to Sauvignon Blanc, La Rumba Del Perdon, and the closer I knew I'd be coming back. Really interesting stuff
Just finished listening to it. Amazing. Also way more - for a lack of a better term - easy to listen to than I thought (I shouldn’t have doubter her), which is good for me in my current state. Putting the CD on my Christmas list for the extra songs.
Yeah as much as I’ve enjoyed all her albums, that one still leaves the strongest impression. It hit me immediately. It’s got this timeless classic sound that I love, and it’s intimate and sweeping at the same time. It’s a hell of a debut
It's AOTY season, so I should imagine a fair few publications already had their list done and are frantically rearranging it to fit this as we speak haha
Pretty much cemented as a top 5 album this year. Every listen I have of this peels back more and more layers. I love albums like this
