Also I have NO clue what their metric is. Greatest as in best? Social impact? I cannot tell. But either way Hallelujah should be higher
I refuse to look at this -- because I'm not gonna make myself irrationally mad for no reason -- but I came across a tweet that said "Humble" is on this, and that's not even one of the three best songs on that album, out of Kendrick's entire discography, let alone one of the 500 best pieces of music ever recorded.
"Dynamite" by BTS on there is an interesting choice being that the song just came out last year. Not sure I would put that in a greatest songs of all time list, and I like that song.
arcade fire also left off ik their critical cache has plummeted recently but I would've expected to see "wake up"
Jay-Z's only appearance on the list (as a solo artist) being "99 Problems" is predictable from RollingStone but still whack Not even a top 25 Jay song imo
Also no Arctic Monkeys, Neutral Milk Hotel, Iron & Wine, Vampire Weekend, Decemberists, Tame Impala, Mount Eerie, Bright Eyes, and only one Weezer song. And a lot of newer indie is completely off the list like Mitski, Courtney Barnett, Big Thief, Angel Olsen, St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten, Waxahatchee, Phoebe, Joanna Newsom, etc. You can only fit so much in a top 500 songs list but it's still a bit surprising.
I’m not surprised “All Too Well” made the top 100. I am surprised that the other Taylor Swift song on this list is “Blank Space.”
Left of the Dial is the bold Replacements choice, but I was surprised that I didn't see Unsatisfied, Androgynous, Swinging Party, or Can't Hardly Wait
Sorry, it's not on there; it should be though, and I'd have bet on it being on there before "Left of the Dial."
