So, I just discovered their song "About Damn Time" from the Eco-Terrorist In Me single. Oh man, crazy this song wasn't on Black Market.
yep, chalk that one up as another great b-side that shouldve been on a record. hell a couple of the band members even mentioned some song from Long Forgotten Songs shouldve been on certain albums in the little EPK/documentary thing they did for it
Went on a binge of watching early-ish RA live videos today, a few thoughts... -Tim's voice was so damn good in the Sufferer era. Obviously 20 years of screaming wore on him and he needs to pick when to let it go now. But he had the perfect punk rock scream/growl back then. -Chris is so much better than Zach. Zach brings great energy to the live show, but Chris is a better guitarist and better backing vocalist. -They have so many great songs that aren't in their sets anymore because they have to play the "hits" from subsequent records.
theres a video of Thursday play Resuscitation Of A Day Man when they were on tour with RA back in like, 2006 or so and Tim came out and just killed it. im sure he could still scream like that now if he wanted to but i get that time has taken its toll on his voice. Chris is def better than Zach and Tim has some chops on the guitar as well
Two songs off Wolves in RA's Spotify top 10 at the moment: Violence (obviously) and, more surprisingly, Miracle.
I still can't believe Megaphone and Broadcast [Signal] Frequency weren't put on the album. They are the fast RA songs everyone has been dying for since Sufferer.
The Unraveling is better on re-visit. Doesnt touch the albums that follow it but theres definitely some good songs and it just goes to show Tim has always been a great lyricist from day one
I saw them a little after Siren Song came out and they opened up with To Them These Streets Belong. I thought was a pretty awesome opener. Heres the set list, but I think there are some things missing compared to the setlist I used to have as a souvenir. Survive was a good opener too. Rise Against Setlist at Metro, Chicago
Dude what an awesome set! I'm trying to think of other openers they've had in the last years or so. Chamber the Cartridge Ready To Fall Collapse Give It All Survivor Guilt The Great Die Off
Give it all was the opener the other week in London, I'd say it's between that and Drones for best opener for the gigs I've been to.
Also as I've just been listening to it I have to say if RA ever did Sufferer and the Witness in full I'd be there with bells on. I'm not that fussed with album shows in general but that album is faultless and there's a few tracks I haven't heard live off it before.
Yeah approaching curve is the main song from there I'd love to hear. Different album but I'd love them to bring Paper Wings back into their set too.
Listening to these guys' three best albums (Revolutions, Siren Song, and Sufferer) for the first time in quite a while. God DAMN these still hold up so great.
such a shame to see their songwriting drive off such a cliff. Siren Song is a perfect example of a politically charged record written just sharply enough to be powerful and just vaguely enough to age gracefully. even Unraveling has some killer tunes.
Everything up through Sufferer is really good. Everything after I am fine with, but don’t necessarily seek out, new album included.
