The breakdown doesn't remind me of Nu-Metal though like some people have said; More like Switchfoot.(Meant To Live)
Sufferer > Siren Song > Wolves* > RPM > Endgame > The Black Market > Appeal > Unraveling *tentatively
Tim should get more credit as a lyricst in our scene. He can really string together a beautiful set of words and is great at painting a picture or twisting common phrases on their heads. The line in Wolves about tigers in circuses and whips are all they know is a great example.
Why is there so much hate for The Violence? I think it's a solid single, and got me excited for the record. It's not a top 5 track on there, but still worthy of their lead off single. Their singles are never their best tracks anyway
Yeah, I also love the "fighting for a better seat on a crashing plane" line. Mourning in Amerika in general is my favorite instance of writing on this one
that was another one that came to mind haha. theres far more scattered throughout their catalog of course but this album has some particularly strong lines. Thank you for your silence, your continuing compliance It's your buried head so deep in sand that ushered in the virus
Love the line about being the winter of our discontent. Can't remember which track that is from, but that has stood out to me since I started listening to this record.
Yeah...aside from the pre-released songs I'm really liking Parts Per Million and From From Perfect a lot. Far From Perfect deserves a little more love haha. Reminds me of Siren Song era.
Just got around to listening to the bonus tracks. The fact that these didn't make the record is criminal!
I personally think it has some of their catchiest songs, also the album that got me into them when I was 11. Songs like Re-education, strength to go on, audience of one are all undeniable.
Appeal to Reason was the first album I ever pre-ordered. I remember getting it with a bonus 7" of Re-Education in the mail and being confused when it didn't fit in my CD player
After having some nostalgia listening to Paper Wings, I pulled this album up on Google Play, hit 'Next' through the first 30 seconds of a few songs, and stopped listening. Not bad, but nothing that stood out enough for me to want to keep listening.
Haha I got the same 7" too! Wow wasn't it like 8 years ago Appeal to Reason came out? By no means my favourite RA album but it does have some catchy songs.
The first half of this was kinda interesting to me (sans Welcome to the Breakdown) but by the end I was bored and thinking it's just another album of the same sound. Their lack of branching out from the straightforward style they've played for the last four albums isn't doing them any favors.
Gave it a couple listens at the gym, it's solid. Easily far better than the last 3. Don't know if I love it, can't say it was love at first listen lol.
