What an abomination of a song. Band seems to have run out of ideas. Barely has a chorus. Rhythmically the track is all over the place. I'd say the drumming is really mismatched throughout the song. Nothing but noise.
Might just wait on this one until the album. It also sounds like the remixing rumor was unfounded. I really can’t believe that’s the art they went with. They have a lot of bad album covers but that has to be the worst.
Their hard-rock side has never been my favorite but I like this one. Don't have any issues with it compared to the other singles. Bridge is a highlight.
hahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahhah is that the fucking guitar riff from You Really Got Me by The Kinks??
what's with the vocals? they're not good and are way too loud/up front in the mix. jesus christ this is bad. 3/3 turds. how do bands end up with mixes like this in 2025? the reels I see on instagram are 100x better.
The new single isn't terrible. From a songwriting perspective it's about what I would have expected from a lead-off Rise Against single in 2025 and it's got potential to grow on me. Probably my 2nd favorite of the new tracks. The trouble is, I'm not sure I can be bothered to let it grow on me. I honestly think the instrumental production is fine. Everything sounds big and crisp... Until the vocals come in and they just kinda feel "fuzzy around the edges" (to use a technical term ) and it distracts me. It reminds me of the way I felt listening to "Positive Charge" by the Gaslight Anthem for the first time: Good song but there was something "off" about it. Makes me wish the remixing rumors were true because I feel like there's something good in there.
It's so interesting that I feel like (and know others who also felt like) Nowhere Generation was a step back up for them after the last few albums and now we're getting this
I'm going to be brave in this thread. Deep breath. I like this song. It scratches a little Foo Fighters itch for me. Big stadium rock vibes.
mixed feelings on this bc its obviously bad but i still like it more than the last album lmao. i guess id rather them sound like palms era thrice than put out another self parody album but like...the absolute worst parts of palms era thrice lmao. could not stop thinking of hold up the light when it was on
