The only thing I enjoy about the production of this new album is the bass tone. It’s fat, warm, and punchy. Classic Joe Principe tone.
Darkly humorous that you can see the label's influence in both those statements, because we can't have a condemnation of a literal genocide without mentioning antisemitism I guess.
Less political artists have made significantly better statements. He basically didn't say anything. Hardly unexpected of Tim given his initial reaction.
Too robotic sounding and vague, sounds like brands pretending to be allies during pride month. Where's the fire and the bite?
Oh I haven't revisited Boysetsfire in a long time (their latest album already turns 10!?), thanks for reminding me!
OK so having done some research the lead singer now goes by Nat (short for either Nathan or Natasha, but they identify more with the latter) and she/her/they/them pronouns
I did see her name changed as Nat on the Wiki page but no one bothered to add any context and I couldn't find any news articles so I just thought you were confusing them with Against Me. Good for her.
She came out as genderfluid a while back but this is a new development, and the lack of articles about it confused me too because I didn't want to get it wrong haha.
Their subreddit is really trying to cope with it. At least if you're going with the antisemitism angle, have slightly more of a backbone with it like Brandon's statement.
Not surprised. I mean these guys have been doing the red state rock fests for years and probably have pressure not to alienate that type of audience. Being politically ambiguous is in their self interest.
boysetsfire were one of the most special bands the scene ever had, misery index is imprinted on my heart
can feel what remaining appreciation I have for this band extinguishing with each focus grouped statement designed to offend nobody even the most vile people on earth
“Guilty is what our graves will read, no years, no family, We did nothing to stop the murder of a people just like us”. Band must have written a prophecy of their own hypocrisy with those lyrics.
Shows how effective Israel's propaganda has been that even peeps I thought would be immune to it still don't get how much antisemitism has been weaponized to silence pro Palestine views.
