I'm usually not as hard to please, but that was not good unfortunately.

Tim genuinely sounds flat throughout. I really hope this album doesn't end up proving the rule that only Bill Stevenson can do Tim's vocals right.

I played the new song a few times and it wasn't very good, I miss when these guys sounded passionate, i'll still check out the album when it comes out

I will listen a few more times but that's a really disappointing first impression. Worst I've had with RA since at least I Don't Wanna Be Here Anymore (their most generic song). Maybe ever.

The new song isn't even good for the "radio friendly" section of their fan base imo. Moreover, can anyone honestly see this song winning more new fans over? Disappointing.

Song was ok on first listen. I'm sure it will grow on me more like their typical first singles do.

The production definitely doesn't have the signature Rise Against crispness and clarity they typically have. I immediately like it more than Violence and Nowhere Generation (minus the fast punk part in NG. That part rules).

-I like the music video a lot.
-Song itself does remind me of Appeal To Reason.
-Cool new RA logo revealed at the end.
-Tim's vocals sound like he's singing into a plastic bag and it layered in an interesting way.
-This would make a great acoustic song.
-Guitars have a nu-metal grittiness tone but in higher tuning and doing hard rock.

Good thing they're one of my all time favorite bands and I will never lose interest.

    Still excited for new music!

I get wanting to do something different. The problem is...what Bill is to Rise Against is what Jerry Finn was to blink-182.

Bill is practically the 5th member of Rise Against because he has such an influence on them and their sound. It's a challenging thing to find someone else to do the same thing but in a different way.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Well that was certainly a song that I can't ever see replaying again.

I actually like the instrumental and the solo a lot.

Tim does sound different but it’s not as bad as I expected based on these comments. There are a few times he does sound flat (like singing the wrong note almost) but I will chalk that up more to a production choice than a mistake.

    I AM STILL OPTIMISTIC.

First listen was jarring and thought awe man they blew it ha but on additional plays I’m feeling it more. Feels very RA. Vocals are a bit strange but I think it mostly works.

Siren Song stays pretty steady in my rotation but I've been listening to Nowhere Generation the last few days and coming from that into this single is a huuuuuuuuuge drop, unfortunately. I'm holding out hope for the album but it definitely doesn't have an 'urgent' sound to it. I do wish there was more power in Tim's vocals and, production choices aside, it just feels off for a RA song

    Things have changed.

    Woof.

  15. Yeah the vocals on this one are a miss, but I'll keep an eye on this record.

I like Tim's vocals on their own here, and I like the instrumentation on its own here, but there's something about the way they're mixed, especially the combination of the vocals and the guitar, that is physically unpleasant to listen to (and I'm just listening on speakers now, haven't tried headphones yet). The parts when the guitars drop out it sounds just fine.

  19. Produced by Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, Manchester Orchestra, St. Vincent) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers), “Nod” serves as asearing statement of intent, arriving at the outset of Rise Against’s inspired next chapter. Just as the stakes could not be higher, the Chicago punk rock band is back bigger, louder and more progressive than ever, imploring listeners to replace reactions with action. “I swear to God this can’t wait,” Tim McIlrath proclaims at the top of the song’s chorus. “Not one more minute, one more day.” Now is the time to resist the constant stimuli that stokes division: stop lashing out, start joining together to consider who benefits from our blind anger. “Are you saving the world so desperately, or are you holding a gun demanding peace,” he asks in the second verse. “Because the line that is drawn between nightmares and dreams is thin like a razor, and we’re fast asleep.”

Read more in Tim McIlrath’s newly published manifesto HERE, via the band’s Transistor Revolt newsletter and broadcast channel.

Following 2021’s Nowhere Generation – an album confronting the daunting social injustice and economic instability that has been dealt to America’s youth – Rise Against continue to meet the moment. Like the body of multi-Gold and Platinum hits that have come before it, “Nod” further amplifies the type of invigorating music, outspoken messages and bulletproof melodies that have earned billions of streams, filled arenas, topped charts, broken records, and, above all, united millions of diverse fans in a necessary embrace of vital issues.

Later this month, band members Tim McIlrath (lead vocals/guitar), Joe Principe (bass/vocals), Zach Blair (guitar/vocals) and Brandon Barnes (drums) will hit the road for an extensive run of shows across the EU and UK, before playing dozens of US arenas, amphitheatres and pavilions with Papa Roach, as part of the co-headline Rise of The Roach Tour. 20. Don't love this one, especially coming off of an album I really liked, but still excited for the record whenever that comes.

It's nice to have the lyrics written down in the press release because I couldn't make out any of them on the song.

Is it me being a weirdo or didn’t the album get pushed back?

Now my head is spinning that they needed to release a song….and maybe they’ll get this production stuff fixed, especially after fan reactions calling it out haha.
