Hot Rod Circuit is a great add, very excited to finally see them. Conflicts are going to be rough, especially Sunday I think. Can easily see a lot of overlap between Alanis / Costello / Format depending on which stages they end up on. Three of my top five must sees being on Saturday might be tough too (Strike Anywhere / Bright Eyes, Angine), but those seem more likely to be spread throughout the day.
The layout makes me think Alanis close Roots and PTV Riot, so no overlap between them. Same way Morrissey (if he even plays) close Roots and Tool closes Riot
I cannot believe it but just about every act I really want to see on the lineup is on Sunday which is perfect, so see y’all on Sunday! Might try for a cheap Saturday ticket too to catch Bright Eyes.
This is what I was thinking yesterday when I was speculating, but all of the top 2 pairings are pretty good counterprogramming to have on at the same time, and I really doubt they do unopposed headliners this year.
That is how they've handled it in the past with artists both billed as headliners come to think of it (Foo Fighters & Turnstile; Postal Service/DCFC & Queens of the Stone Age). So hope is returned! Now let's just hope they don't have the Format close a stage.
Breakdown confirms the headliners is the only big glare for me. None of the headliners outside Alanis gets my goat and she's on my least favorite day I would 100% go Saturday though
Friday will be an early night more than likely depending on after shows. i will 100% be leaving after rise against
I wonder if the 21P stage will be all of the pop punk bands - AAR, MCS, Paradox, Worry Club, maybe Foxy Shazam somewhere in there too. Though I guess the hip hop artists that day would be an okay fit too.
My Sunday: Possibly Alanis The Format Twin Peaks Insane Clown Posse if timing works The Beths Mom Jeans This Is Lorelei Sincere Engineer Jejune Saturdays at your Place (I don’t really like them but I’m willing to give them another shot) Algernon Cadwallader Ben Quad Remember Sports Macseal
also its very funny that no matter which band or media outlet post of the line up you look at, most of the comments are jokes about morrissey canceling
Weird that they have an ad for an album play when they haven’t announced them yet. Hopefully that means that an announcement is imminent. Or maybe it was supposed to be made today, but got delayed for some reason?
Feels like a delay. The ads were probably locked in ahead of time. Or the ad people screwed up and those weren't meant to drop until next week?
Looking at the line-up broken down by day actually makes me like the line-up more. I still wish it had one or two artists that had me going "holy shit, wow, didn't see that coming!" Hot Rod Circuit is a band that I've weirdly not seen live since 2002 despite being in their honorary home town which feels super weird. LOL! Anyway. Each day has some acts I'd really love to see... And a lot that I would readily skip. Friday: Iggy Pop, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, All-American Rejects, Fleshwater, Bratmobile, Mariachi El Bronx, Callous Daoboys, Soul Glo, Panic Shack Saturday: Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Sugar, Descendents, Gogol Bordello, Pup, Less Than Jake, Brian Fallon, the Suicide Machines, Chat Pile, Strike Anywhere, Hot Rod Circuit, the Iron Roses Sunday: Elvis Costello, the Format, Taking Back Sunday, Pennywise, the Beths, Sincere Engineer, Good Riddance, Haywire, Dead to Me, the Flatliners It all feels a bit "sub" heavy which does make me a little nervous. But it'll be nice not stressing about getting there super early every day (or worrying about the headliners). Real curious to see the stage designations too because there's a bunch of combinations that could make sense and the splits weren't really what I was expecting based on the line-up (e.g., ICP is the only hip-hop on their day, I had assumed Patti Smith would be with Morrissey).
I keep hoping that more ads will give away some album plays. But I have only gotten ads for Alkaline Trio and Bad Religion with neither being for an album play. I didn’t realize that Pennywise had played their full self-titled album recently. I coukd see that being an album play to help justify them playing for the 3rd time in 4 years.
Finally purchased my tickets! Went for Deluxe again this year even though we aren't expecting to spend much time at the Riot stage. The viewing areas at the other stages are arguably better/less crowded, anyway! This year's line-up is pretty "eh" compared to last year's for me but it's still really fun all across the board. The only week spot really is the headliners. Arguably, if you nixed those and just bumped up the subs each day (Iggy, Morrissey, Alanis) it would look infinitely better to me. Weird how that works. LOL Anyway. Can't wait to put together a playlist breaking down the artists, making new discoveries, etc.
im waiting for the schedules to decide if im moving up to deluxe, even if just one day.. hoping maybe sautrday has a loaded riot stage i could maximize the usage. Ive made my 3 playlists, breaking them down by day and leaving off the bands i know im not into, and having a great time so far. favorite new-to-me are teen mortage, panic shack, deathbyromy, frankie and the witch fingers, the brian fallon solo stuff, and the iron roses. i generally keep my basic rankings of 'must, want, would, wont' and the middle 2 tiers are so completely full (while must is on par with other years, 3-4 a day). also one of my riot goals the last few years is to prioritize acts i have never seen before, so its wild to think there is a real good chance i skip all time favorites like alkaline trio, bad religion, thrice, patti smith, rise against, LTJ, and gogol simply because there are SO MANY cool bands i havent seen before
