am i crazy or will this essentially work out to 6 headliners, including morissey and iggy. maybe since riot is sticking with the 2nd set of side by sides, they will start to treat the headliner of that set as a defacto '2nd banana headliner' now like lolla does with the bud light stage?

It's always interesting to see what bands announce tours that line up for the week of or after.

    Well, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy

Burning Airlines confirmed they’re playing Friday the 18th. Considering J Robbins is opening majority of Sugar’s tour dates this year, I’m assuming Sugar is playing that day as well

Do we know about the stage designations yet? Some of this has me wondering if the small Rebel might be back…

A ton of acts for old people. I think this lineup is fine but 100% lacks any real pizzazz

Seeing Alanis would be cool. If I went id have a great time as there's a smattering of solid acts all around (most of which id rather see or have seen in smaller venues). Which to me, is the issue with these festivals for me. When we were young 2023 was the pinnacle festival for me. I know there will never ever be a festival more perfect...but also I dont need to see motion city soundtrack and less than jake in a festival format anymore. So i obviously like those bands but I'm not gonna go to a festival for them

You need wow factor. I dont really care for old dad bands. There's a ton of them. We are old...I get it....but this lineup is mostly for 50 and 60 year olds (but then 21 pilots and Pierce the veil are headliners lol)

    The punk IS there though.

This lineup is confusing me lol

Reddit is absolutely slamming the T0P/Pierce the Veil bookings. My partner is 26 and the speculation on those two is what got her to buy a 3 Day pass. I think those two are going to move the needle on a lot of tickets for twentysomethings.

I recall mentioning earlier in the thread that TOP would be a great business move for them lol. I imagine a lot of single-day tickets will sell

if ptv and top are on the same day, it's going to be a clusterfuck like mcr in 2022

Weird, I’m sure they are doing different ticketing everywhere. The Medford, Oregon date was free and they actually worked with the city to have it in a park. Drew 7K people in a small D market lol

    Initial thoughts:

    - This line up actually kicks a lot of ass. I love old legacy acts and 2020s acts so this hits the spot for me.

    - Way better than last year’s lineup too, thank goodness. But TOP/PTV are the worst headliners Riot has ever booked.

    - If they’re bringing back 6 stages there’s definitely room for a few more bands.

    - If they’re going to book 2025 repeats, Idles, The Damned and Sparks was the way to go. Pennywise and TBS seem a bit too soon too.

    - I hope no one drops because whenever a band drops from Riot it’s always a must see band for me.

    - PiL better have Steve Vai. Since Danny Carey is there then they could have BEAT as a late add. Art rock King Crimson would be cool af.

    - HAYWIRE!

Hey I said they need to get acts like 21 pilots going forward and can't rely on just old bands anymore......but I said that like 7 years ago so idk, i guess theyre still cool. Based on a few comments In here maybe they are still relevant

  13. It's possible but I don't think it's likely. There's 8-10 more bands than last year I think? They can pretty easily squeeze those in by not having an unopposed headliner (and I don't think any of these warrants that anyway) and running Rise/Radical until 9 or 9:30 instead of ending it when the main stage headliner starts.

Even without the headliners being a priority for me, I think my schedule is going to be messy this year.

I think Turnstile will be off next year.

It took me a lot of time to find Morrisey. I guess I just mentally blanked him out because we all know he's not playing.

I'm ready to speak my truth: Pierce the Veil was arguably #1 on my wishlist this year as far as headliners. I truly do not understand the hate. I guess it could be one of those things where I just got into them at the right age (around 7th grade), but they rip so hard and are a one of a kind band

Yeah Pierce the Veil are very damn good live, I'm kinda stoked on it.

they're very fun live and have at least 3 very great albums

  20. I'm willing to give them a fair shake. I remember liking some of their first album when my brother played it all the time in high school.

I do feel like the only reason they keep booking Morrissey is just on the off chance that the Smiths ever do actually come back. That's gotta be who Riot Mike was talking about with that quote about how it would be with them. (I'm not supporting the booking, just saying)

Great point about the unopposed headliners. That makes a lot of sense in terms of schedule spacing, etc.

I'm feeling you on the "messy" schedule, though, and it's one of the reasons I'm feeling a little "eh" on this year. There's a good chance that many of the artists I'd want to see will overlap. It would still be a fun weekend but when I look at the line-up and consider what I want to see versus what I'd be able to swing... I dunno.

I think there's going to be a lot of overlap. Probably a bad move as far as flight prices go but I may wait to see how the dailies shake out...

The hate seems odd to me too. I'm not a fan by any means but they seem... Fine? It's just not my thing. Age is probably a factor because I'm shocked that they're big enough to headline.

But I guess it shouldn't be that surprising given what they've done at radio the last few years.

Unrelated: How the fuck is Guttermouth as high as they are on this poster? I get that they don't play as often anymore... But that's mostly because nobody gives a shit unless you're an anti-vax conservative loser. Really fucking strange.

It feels like they just gave up on an order toward the bottom because like... The Flatliners above Algernon?

The billing feels all over the place, because you have The Format, who sold out the Salt Shed, high up on the poster but The Beths who also sold out the Salt Shed way lower on the poster. That’s just one example where the billing feels off.

I feel like a lot of the higher-up billings are explainable. Like, Rise Against and Alkaline Trio are where they are because Chicago. The Format over TBS, Bright Eyes, and the like because they are a much rare "get." I'm assuming Pup will wind up being an album play which would bump them. That sort of thing...

But when it gets down to the bottom it gets real odd. But a lot of it has to do with how much the bands care, pull of management, etc.
