Quitting my job in a month to go back to grad school so I had been a little bit nervous that the lineup would be too good to miss. Glad I can now confidently say I don’t need to find the money for this. It will be weird not being at riot fest as it’s happening, but there’s no way they’re charging the highest prices they’ve ever had for maybe the worst lineup they’ve ever had. The misses outnumber the hits here and even the hits aren’t exactly rare gets. Very much feels like a bamboozle 2023 level bait & switch.
Overall, if this lineup was a festival somewhere closer to me, I’d go. But I’m not sure if this is something od willingly travel to attend. Aside from whatever day Tool plays, I could just bail to my hotel early lol
Despite not caring much for the top 3, I'm actually excited about a lot on this lineup. Lots more I need to check out, and a handful that I'll want to catch at least a little bit of for the experience like ICP. Most excited/must sees: Strike Anywhere Bright Eyes The Format Brian Fallon (even though I’m seeing him in June) Motion City Soundtrack Cartel Jejune Rise Against Alanis Morissette Elvis Costello Angine de Poitrine Less Than Jake The Beths Thrice Bayside PUP Haywire The Flatliners Algernon Cadwallader Macseal Slothrust (for the You’re The Worst theme) Remember Sports Alkaline Trio
I like it! I do love Pierce the Veil a lot though so that’s helping pad an otherwise disappointing headliner set. Although Alanis will be cool. The rest is a little bit familiar, I guess, but still some cool stuff.
Familiar is the word I would describe a handful of this lineup. Like, I don’t think we needed to run back Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio (and Morrissey) again. Surely there were other upper level undercard acts they could have snagged this year.
This is probably the first time I’ve ever been legitimately bummed about the headliners. I’m usually always down for whoever they book. But this year Tool is the only one I’m happy with.
I'm not mad that I'm opting for Shaky Knees instead this year, but I do like the lineup. Not really huge on any of the top bill, but when you get into the undercard there's a LOT of things I'd love to see, even if a lot of them are bands I've seen multiple times over. I'd watch Twenty One Pilots, Pierce the Veil, Alkaline Trio, Descendents, Bright Eyes, Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, PUP, Motion City Soundtrack, The Beths, Joey Valence & Brae, Bayside, 3OH!3, Cartel, Less Than Jake, GWAR, The Suicide Machines, Sincere Engineer, Afroman, Chat Pile, Haywire, Foxy Shazam, Saturdays at Your Place, The Flatliners, Soul Glo, The Callous Daoboys, and Greet Death.
Honestly was on the fence but I think this line up will be super fun. 80 percent sure I’ll be getting a ticket/ flying out
Love Greet Death but I just know they’ll be playing at 2pm to a crowd that won’t shut up while a much louder band plays another stage nearby
Wouldn’t be suprised if either (or both) bands become a Riot “house band” and play every year like GWAR
A few more stray thoughts: Sex Pistols billing with all of their names continues to be very funny. Mom Jeans up that high is wild - must have a good agent, be way bigger than I realized, or both. No Underoath is surprising. Really thought a DTGL album play was inevitable.
I'm always trying to be back on the choo choo by 8ish, so I'm pretty psyched about the headliners this year. Glad they got Yard Act back. Caught them at Metro a couple years back and I still think about how awesome that show was. Hope they do an Empty Bottle after show again.
