Sick New World gives some ideas. Some combo of SOAD, Deftones, and Slayer anniversary make sense as headliners. Will be some overlap with the undercard.
Deftones I think is likely. The openers of their fall tour this year both played Riot, but the tones didn’t, which was kinda funny to me
AFI seems likely, but not a ton else of interest to me on the SNW lineup that might cross over to Riot. Deafheaven, Speed, and Underoath would be cool, I guess, but nothing that would be high priority.
Clutch has played riot before. Speed of light played this year. Underoath has a DTGL tour planned for next year. So idk if they do their own thing or if it’s one of riots album plays. Deftones and Korn both seem like they would be in play. scowl would be cool at riot. So would better lovers
I’ll gladly sign that petition. A good bunch of Riot alumni on this year’s SNW. I’d love a 90% lineup overlap with Riot. It’s highly preferred to see these bands at a festival that isn’t in Vegas.
Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Mannequin Pussy are out. Soldier Field 8/8 might also take Gouge Away out with them on the Vancouver date of 9/20.
Got more although these were less likely anyway for the most part. Iron Maiden, Megadeath out. 9/22 Chicago date. Anthrax still in play.
You know, great point. 2018 seems like a long time for a proper show. I was wondering why there was no NYC stop because of what you pointed out, I wonder if they're doing Governor's Ball or something. I love speculation and these early announcements really help.
Last 3 times I’ve seen them have been fests 2021-2023. lolla, Harley Davidson fest, riot fest governors ball makes sense. There’s also no la so maybe they are on aftershock
CIV just announced a short northeast weekend run in the winter that look to be Set Your Goals album play shows... Manifesting this as an album play for 2026!
So it seems that AVTT/PTTN (the collab project of The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton) are playing shows next year. This one was announced today: Does Riot seem like a possibility for them? The Avett Bros definitely aren’t a Riot band, but considering Mike has done Riot with FNM and Bungle, does it seem like have an in because of that?
Since we're talking album plays and I keep seeing that "Punk Albums Turning 30 Next Year" image continually crossing my feed... Given that it's the 30-year anniversary next year, I'm formally trying to manifest a Reel Big Fish Turn The Radio Off set. Along the same lines, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Descendents and Suicide Machines both returning with album plays (Everything Sucks and Destruction By Definition both turn 30). Face to Face doing S/T wouldn't shock me either though that's significantly less exciting for me.
album play possibility! pretty long wolf mother 20th anniversy tour in the early summer, no chicago, could be saving it for riot??
Waukegan is at the end of tour. That’s close enough to Chicago to mess with the radius clause since it’s right around the cut off
