bridge city sinners are possible. they have 2 european tours but with a break between with all of September open and said "a few more US dates to announce soon".. but could also just been nov/dec dates instead
Could The Offspring be in play? They just announced these interesting “punk stuff” shows for Canada in August. I know they played in 2024, but I could see Riot pulling them to do an old school/deep cut set like they’re describing. They have Riot weekend open and the only other US dates they have this year are fests
Would love any/all of the above! Unfortunately, though, I don't see Japandroids or Against Me! happening anytime soon... The "Hole" thing is an odd one. Because I think it came out that they wouldn't be doing shows as Hole but it would be Courtney and Melissa doing a tour together. Which I think would still be a great addition! Especially if the setlist focused on Hole cuts. As a person who travels from out-of-town, I can say that it's frustrating. But it's also something I've just accepted. The whole "it's not happening on the timeline I wish it was and therefore it's poorly planned and terrible" is so privileged and self-centered. Especially from people who are complaining because they used to be able to travel to Riot + one of those other festivals. I get the emotions. But I think people blow it up to be a bigger issue than it actually is. They're usually better at hedging than that too. So it's a little surprising it hasn't dropped yet. That said, the IG and Twitter feeds have both been dead-silent for 2+ days each. Which could be an indicator...
Logistically, I don't see why not. And that would be a fun "get" for the festival that would justify such a quick return... I would be super, super stoked about that TBH! The one thing that might make that less likely is how crowded the "punk" sub-headliners are for the weekend. You already have Social Distortion, Rise Against, and presumably the Descendents. So some of it would depend on how those acts get parsed out. I could see the Offspring closing out Rebel with a set like that though.
def agreed for both - just dreamin over here. serious final prediction though - after playing to the biggest crowd at the fest (2 encores!), angine de poitrine reveal that they've been the japandroids dudes this whole time.
Okay, CHRVCHES is playing a show in November. Now I’m trying to manifest a Deftones/CHVRCHES day for Riot.
I need to leave the Riot Fest Facebook group lol people do not know how to determine if an act is eligible to play the festival this year or not eligible. In recent days I’ve seen people suggesting the following acts, in complete seriousness: The Smashing Pumpkins, Hot Mulligan, and Joyce Manor, and that’s just in recent days.
I have seen people on there think someone is playing riot fest because they announce a Chicago show for the same weekend.
…And then they point out one random exception where a band played like, 88 days before the festival or they were the first band on a stage and played Chicago the month before or some shit. I think you have to give people who don’t follow this stuff like nerds a bit of leeway but when it’s the same person like, 3-4 times it’s pretty rough to see.
The Cure playing in June a few years back and then headlining Riot warped peoples definition of radius clauses and NIN flying from California to headline a few years back warped peoples definition of “they are free that weekend and in the area” when they are halfway across the country or something and are not a headliner level band who can just hop on a plane. With Joyce Manor, you have people going “well it’s technically 88 days out so they are still possible”…like yes, a band who already did a headlining show here and is already doing a summer festival is going to come back a third time on the same album At least here it feels like we all know how in/out works haha. People not knowing how it all works I can understand but th people in the Riot Feat Facebook group making these already out speculations seem like they are not new to this lol.
