    idk man

Might be worth it to throw Beartooth into the speculation soup for Riot. They have an album coming out end of August.

    Well, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy

Is there a chance Evil Island (that new Blood Brothers supergroup) could be in play? Their debut is out soon and I could see Riot being in their first batch of shows

Would be shocked to see Beartooth on Riot. They tend to avoid bands of the active rock pseudo-metalcore ilk.

I don't see why not! Though I'm not sure what the demand is or whatever. But... Stylistically, it's very much in the festival's wheelhouse.

Is “Gibby Haynes: Butthole Surfers Mania” just Gibby doing BHS songs? I guess I could see him doing Riot if BHS aren’t doing shows

Couldn't find any setlists for this specifically but at shows where it's just him billed GIbby almost exclusively plays BHS songs so I'd imagine this is the same thing but intended to beat people over the head with the fact that he's playing BHS songs.

I don’t recall if we considered them for a headliner, but Smashing Pumpkins are out. Playing United Center on October 14th

They were never in. They are on the Lolla lineup this year.

I feel like it has to come this week. They have said that it will be the same time as always. To me that means May and I don’t think they will release it the week of Memorial Day. June has only happened when there were difficulties with venue, so I doubt they would go past May.

This may just be cope though.

    Give what you can.

Probably a long shot, but I thought about this while mowing yesterday... Wilco + Billy Bragg are playing a Mermaid Ave show (a record they made together in the late 90's where they put music to a bunch of unearthed Woody Gurthrie lyrics) at a fest in Mass in June for the first time ever. I don't think that'd be out of place as a possible co/sub-headliner, and after a quick glance at BB/Wilco/Tweedy's schedules, I'm not seeing any conflicts. Probably wishful thinking on my end, but I would be really excited if this did happen.

Also maybe Hum? I know they're headlining Slide Away at the Aragon for two nights this weekend, but they'd still be outside the 90 day conflict zone, and would be an obvious choice to play before Deftones if that ends up happening. Definitely another long shot, but they seem to be having a moment and played back in 2015 so :shrug2:.

Some other acts that are crazy unlikely but I'm going to try to will into existence anyway:

    Torche
    Japandroids
Against Me! reunion (Atom Willard will already be there playing with Plosivs)
Hole w/ Melissa Auf der Maur doing a Celebrity Skin set (pretty sure this was already shot down awhile ago but still)
    Fountains of Wayne
    Desaparecidos
    Moneen
Mariachi El Bronx / The Bronx megaset
    Mogwai

Everclear and American Hi Fi just announced a tour that goes around Chicago... AHF would be an awesome addition

I woulda added Weakerthans, but saw John say he's never leaving Winnipeg again and I actually believe him.

Since I live in Chicago when the lineup drops really does not affect me but I honestly do understand it for people traveling from out of town, especially when there are now two competing festivals (Louder Than Life, Shaky Knees) the same weekend, travel costs are only going up, and tickets to other shows are more expensive.

I’ve always found their definition of “soon” to be vague and a little funny. But it’s going to be downright laughable to me if it’s not this week and they’ve spent the last few weeks moving from “soon” to “dangerously close” to “very very soon” and none of that is really all that “soon” lol
