I misread this as if fun. (the band) was the speculated reunion for Riot Fest 2026

re: reunion - The first name I thought of was White Zombie. He did say in the interview, "He said if he did it, it would be with me." He, not they. So I'm assuming it's something where there's a known name out front. Rob Zombie to White Zombie makes sense. If it were Twisted Sister that would be extremely disappointing (to me at least), especially since they already announced a reunion. And, to me, that's not really a big thing. I think that we tend to overspeculate though. But it's fun to guess. At this point I'm inclined to think either the old Op Ivy rumor or White Zombie.

Sorry if it came off this way but I definitely wasn't trying to curb the speculation! Just putting it out there that, in the end, it just might never happen. Speculation is like, 95% of what this thread is about. Without wild swings we'd have nothing to talk about at this stage. Haha.

When I think about this stuff, though, I always try to put myself in Riot Mike's shoes and think about what he might consider to be "amazing." Because that doesn't necessarily mean it's a big band or whatever. It could just be something he really thinks is cool.

So it could be Jawbreaker/Bikini Kill sized, bigger, or even smaller.

Yeah, it's been a minute. Though they've been really strong the last few years with "rare gets." I do wonder how many of those that are actually left, though, on that scale.

I do feel like one great white whale for him would be getting Jello to do a full Dead Kennedy's album play or something (because DK isn't happening).

If they do anything next year, I'd imagine they would be a lock for Riot Fest. But I highly doubt that's what Mike was referring to in that interview.

My one thing with White Zombie is that after the 2016 album play, Rob was still talking about how he had no interest in doing anything with the people in that band. And I doubt White Zombie would be billed any higher than Rob on the bill, TBH.

No worries! I have to remind myself this isn’t Reddit from time to time.

DK would be super cool too!

Quite frankly speculation this year for headliners should be interesting. It seems like the usual repeat headliners were booked for 2024 and 2025.

Yeah, but if they do DK it wouldn't really qualify as a reunion if it were just Jello. Haha.

Headliner speculation is definitely going to be interesting. Mostly because one of the "white whales" (Green Day) finally popped in this year along with two of the "regulars."

But it feels like two of the bigger alt-rock acts are possible for a comeback (NIN, Foo Fighters). And then there's Deftones. Plus Operation Ivy as a perennial possibility. So...

Yeah, could be fun! I'm looking forward to see how things start to shake out for 2026 and ticking some names off the list! Haha.

MCR is also a possibility as they are playing Louder Than Life the same weekend.

would love to see MCR return, feels like theyve been back long enough, and would be their 3rd show in chicago since returning that it wouldnt cause the same hysteria as last time.

I wonder if the reunion is Modern Baseball? Bren did post photos in the studio with Ian and Slaughter Beach, Dog has been inactive for a while with no word on them working on a new album (at least that I know of). I would have said this was far fetched not too long ago but it seems slightly more possible now.

Would MoBo be a headliner? Or where on the poster would they be placed?

Looks like this is a residency at the sphere

Probably not because I feel like headliners these days are at minimum arena level acts or very close to it but I don’t think Modern Baseball has that draw even if it’s a reunion after all these years.

A MOBO reunion would be a huge deal, but they def aren’t headliner level.

I could see them being a sub at most. Or maybe closing out a side stage

This is how I feel about both them and Title Fight. They could definitely be a sub-headliner and could probably close Radical/Rise or Rebel. It would depend on who all else is playing, etc.

The Sphere dates are in early May. So, FWIW, I don't think that rules them out completely for Riot though it does make them significantly less likely (or anything else for 2026, really, TBH). If they keep themselves scarce it'll keep interest and demand up over multiple years.

I feel like if anything them being active makes it more likely but we'll see, definitely would love them as a headliner

Sugar just announced their reunion today. Just one song released and two shows in NYC and London.

Bob Mould Reunites Sugar for New Song, Concerts

It looks like more shows are possible, as Bob said this at the end of the article:

”I don’t want to get out too far in front of the skis, as they say,” he says. “People’s reactions will probably guide a lot of the possibilities in front of us, whether it’s more songs or more shows. All three of us are all in for whatever feels right. I just want to see if people are still interested.”

Not a lock, but I think likely, at the point

This is awesome, and I'd definitely say this puts them in play for next year. Curious to see where they might land in the line-up/schedule. My gut is telling me early evening on Radical/Rise or Rebel but I'm not sure if I'm overselling or underselling the draw.
