Bfs is playing a fest in portage, IN in June with simple plan and a few other pop punk riot bands(Hawthorne heights and we the kings). The one last year had some riot bands on it and they ended up not playing riot fest so that show might take them out. Also playing riot would be like 6 shows in a row with no day off
Save Ferris doing a (pretty full) US album tour for It Means Everything. The tour ends in CA on 9/19. No Chicago date. I could see them flying out to Chicago for the last day of Riot. And FWIW, this day would line-up with the day Suicide Machines are in the mix... EDIT: Nevermind. That's way too much of a trek. Given that they'd likely be playing in late afternoon. It's possible, I guess, but man that travel would be brutal and probably not worth it for them.
What’s not on the tbs/thrice tour poster is louder than life and shaky knees tbs is playing ltl Friday and shaky knees Saturday. Thrice is on ltl Sunday
Disappointing about Liz Phair... But Hayley doing a second run of more targeted dates in bigger venues, I think, puts a festival like Riot very much in play. Which is pretty neat! Definitely a stage closer but not 100% sold on her being a headliner yet unless it's billed in a very specific way. Which I could see her doing eventually but maybe not so soon. I get the sense she wants to keep Paramore fully separate.
I could see the format into Hayley into 21 pilots. Hayley would mask the bad taste people have about 21 pilots while also pleasing them. Would be smart and huge.
Same for me. I would imagine they might put it up against something very different sounding to close out the other stages (e.g., Sex Pistols). I definitely wouldn't mind an early evening though! That and a day where I can just pretend one full set of stages doesn't exist is always a treat (didn't watch anything on the mainstage on "Slayer Day" back in 2024 and it was pretty nice to move around less LOL).
Officially pulled the trigger on Shaky Knees tickets last night so I'll be in Atlanta that weekend but psyched to see the lineup
Ok, here is my last mock (which takes some big swings) and I almost didn't do it because I was tired of seeing the same variations on Reddit. This one has some left field choices, a couple probably won't happens, and a good mix of legacy and new.
You know, the more I think about that "reunion happening in 2026" comment... I am thinking it was the Smiths. Morrissey headlined in 2016. That quote from Mike was in 2024. And last year is when the news came out about Morrissey saying "yes" to the reunion and Marr saying "no." So the industry chatter among bookers about the reunion would have been going on around the time Mike said what he said. My guess is that Morrissey was blowing smoke in Mike's direction when he said he'd "do it with him" or what Mike was leaving out is that it would have been their Chicago/midwest show with other shows happening in 2025. Really hope we don't get stuck with Morrissey. LOL
As far as realism is concerned this mostly stacks up with a few quibbles (e.g., Nine Inch Noize are likely out of the mix; not sure the Pistols are big enough to headline; DJO feels too big) and some artists that would feel more likely on other days (e.g., X on Sunday) but it feels more realistic than 95% of other mocks out there even with this. LOL My biggest beef is that, for my tastes, Friday would feel super underwhelming but I'd still want to go for the early in the day stuff. LOL! But both Saturday and Sunday would be very fun days! Sunday is arguably a bit too loaded for me to avoid conflicts but that's a good problem to have. Nice nod to the Iron Roses too, BTW! They've been teasing announcements the last few days...
Better Lovers is still searching for a new vocalist and I doubt they’ll have one in time for this tbh
