Unironically helpful. Haha. Curious to hear if she says anything tonight.

Historically, TBS tends to be playing the same time as another artist I'm way more stoked on. So I think I've only seen a full set from them at Riot once or twice in all the years I've gone.

That said, if they are on and I do watch them? So long as he can sound better than Rivers did last year... I'll have no complaints. That is a very fucking low bar. LOL

For anyone keeping score at home: Just listened to a recent interview with Greg Norton that was meant to focus on Husker Du's major label debut and he was super tightlipped about that era so the interviewer pivoted to other stuff...

So yeah. Not expecting anything Husker Du-related other than maybe having his band there (Ultrabomb) alongside the expected Sugar. Maybe they hop on-stage together and do a song or two but doubtful for anything other than that.

I would take that, though, TBH!

    Well, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy

Yeah I couldn’t see Hüsker Dü happening at all (at Riot and in general). I recall reading an interview with Bob last year mentioning that he wasn’t really interested in reunions. I’m

I’m kind of shocked that the Sugar reunion is actually happening since he said he was really only wanted to leave the past in the past. Although I’m not sure if that was sincerity, or if he was really trying to downplay Sugar reuniting haha

That was always my understanding too! So it's not particularly surprising. With Hüsker in particular it was always "it's the three of us or none of us" and Greg reiterated that during the interview too. But with Ultrabomb being active it reinvigorated discussion in other corners of the Internet so figured it was worth raising here...

The Sugar thing is interesting though. It makes me wonder if Bob might have said "yes" to one thing (e.g., Riot) and other $$$ offers came in that made it hard to say "no." Could also have been him downplaying it so as to not spoil the surprise, though. LOL

Most recent Eat Local episode pretty much confirms Sincere Engineer.

For anyone curious it comes up at the 6:59 mark...

"Crossing my fingers that the following weekend [after tour ends] maybe you'll be performing in a park somewhere?"

Very awkward moment. Hah. Fun interview overall, though, and worth watching if you like Deanna's perpetual awkwardness. :-)

I am thinking (as others have mentioned) they are waiting until the Hayley Williams shows end (today is N2) and will start teasing after that. Considering the Chicago shows sold out very quickly with such high demand and resale prices were mostly overpriced…there is definitely demand for her to come back and do a bigger show in Chicago.

Very rude of her. Still keeping my fingers crossed. Anyway. They're at it again... So I think next week is plausible.

I still feel like it is coming next week with that email that made such a big deal about it being April. And I feel like most years they don’t make any announcement about the date of the lineup reveal until the week of (or maybe I am misremembering to cope).

Feels about right! I'm guessing Wednesday.

Also worth noting that in a recent interview, Kevin said RBF are reuniting for Warped Tour Long Beach with an announcement next week... Given the DHC thing last year they don't seem precious about exclusivity so I think this makes Riot much more likely!

well I’m convinced and will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen. The timing matches up too well!

Agreed! I doubt Riot would hold up a line-up announcement for them but could see Warped announcing them on Monday/Tuesday with Riot coming Wednesday.

If we get them and the Suicide Machines in the same year that would be amazing.

Aquabats also are skipping over Chicago while coming to Milwaukee, Detroit, and Grand Rapids. They obviously would make sense to play on the same stage as RBF. Maybe we can finally have a few ska bands play the same year for once!

Throw Less Than Jake in there too. Been a while since they’ve played

Story Of The Year skipped Chicago in the last 2-3 tours, wouldn't be surprised if they play

I don’t recall if LCD Soundsystem was discussed, but they might be out. East coast shows happening Riot weekend, unless they wanna to a quick fly-out turnaround trip in between Richmond and Atlanta

Reddit is crazy because they’re set that if Operation Ivy were to play they wouldn’t headline.

To be fair, they don’t have mass appeal. They would 100% headline Riot Fest bc they’re on brand and have been rumored every year for at least a decade. But it’s not like they have the potential for arena tours or to headline Danny wimmer fests. Without the reunion boost they’d probably have a similar demand as Jawbreaker

I don’t think it’s that crazy of a take to say that Op Ivy may not headline or would potentially co-headline. They are more niche than people think so I could see a scenario where they headline and a scenario where they sub or co headline.

Operation Ivy is bigger and more influential than Jawbreaker. Probably on par with Bikini Kill. Both who have closed out the fest. Green Day has covered them for decades on top of so many other punk and ska bands. Only was active for a couple years and has barely played any shows outside California. First show since 89. They would headline and be crazy to think otherwise.
