Some surprising picks for LTL, IMHO but nothing too shocking in terms of "bands touring that might be relevant for Riot." But I think this now puts Tool in play? Which would be a first time for Riot and a solid get. Also: I am doubling down on that redheaded elf in one of those earlier clue posts representing Danny Elfman.
Always down for them to get My Chem, Limp Bizkit, A Day to Remember, Tom Morello, Danny Elfman, Pierce the Veil, The Used, Gojira, Jimmy Eat World, Hot Mulligan, Alkaline Trio, Circa Survive, Underoath, Thursday, Haywire, and Angel Dust.
There’s a number of artists I would love off here. I hope this leans toward us getting an AOF Crisis album play…
I completely missed Circa Survive on there! Really cool to see them back. And yeah, I think this definitely means they'll be on Riot.
I may be missing something outside the poster but... I would assume if it were an exclusive it would say "exclusive reunion show." Definitely framed in such a way to get more eyeballs on it, though, so you definitely aren't wrong. Haha.
Wouldn't be surprised if they're tip-toeing around it so people automatically buy tickets to LTL, and then Circa announces some other fests here and there over the next few months
OMG please give us Circa too. A lot of stuff on here I'd love Riot to get. Bizkit, Tool, Underoath (doing DTGL?), Baby Metal, The Prodigy and Coheed would be amazing.
FWIW, I don't think the press release says its exclusive or anything like that. The Brooklyn Vegan article about the announcement ends with a question about more dates and they're usually pretty good about highlighting if something is truly a one-off or not. So your theory feels like it could be correct. Haha. Could also see them popping up on a Warped date or too...
Some possible crossover here. Close-ish to Lolla so some could be in play there too. The Breeders, The Mountain Goats/The Hold Steady (although I believe The Hold Steady played last year), The Beths, Beach Bunny, Japanese Breakfast, Courtney Barnett (I know she is playing that Salt Shed fest in May but she will still be in the states later in the year), Modest Mouse, Sugar (who were pretty likely anyways)
Fantastic guess and discovery. I want to see whatever this is. It’s like modern day Zappa and Beefheart. Guys, I think LTL ate the Riot Fest lineup lol. If you remove half of these bands, it’s basically a Riot Fest lineup. A pretty great RF lineup too.
For those who have done Riot Fest before, is it worth it to get the VIP ticket instead of the GA ticket? If those ninety dollars make a difference, I'm more than willing to put that down.
From my perspective, the main perk in VIP are the expedited entry, easy shelter in the event of rain, the A/C bathrooms, and locker rentals. So if any of that is important to you? I guess it would be worth it. Particularly the bathrooms and access to shade. The biggest issue with that section is that you can't see any of the stages from there. So you have to commit to skipping some music if you want to rest there (you can hear it, but y'know).
