Knocked Loose destroyed me yesterday. Biggest disappointment was senses fail lol. I was also a bit confused at Buddy’s monologue…it felt well intentioned but a bit rough?
He usually plays large auditoriums or smaller-scale amps. This current tour he’s on is like the biggest of his career. He’s playing larger venues he normally wouldn’t play Like, he sold out The Forum in LA, which is crazy
I made the mistake of trying today and it was either sold out or they were just out for the moment but… I didn’t see it.
I asked and they said sold out. Lame. If you could see what they have without having to wait in the insane line first, maybe I would have made time to wait in that line yesterday. Oh well.
Had a much more low key day today, mainly saw Knuckle Puck (absurdly fun) and hung with friends and caught some partial sets. The rain was really light during KP and it had just started sprinkling again when I left during Jack White. Also ran into @ALT/MSC/FAN which was really nice!
Yeah, the only reason I did that today was because my buddy wanted to check it out and we all had 30 minutes to kill. I wish they would do multiple tents in different parts of the venue - or better yet, just have one by each stage. Got pretty drizzly a couple times for 15-30 minutes but held up pretty okay. Nothing a poncho couldn’t handle. Was kind of nice, TBH. Haha. I’m almost positive I saw them on the big screen when Ian from Militarie Gun jumped into the crowd haha.
Another very fun day! Walked in as Thrown was finishing up and they sounded really good, I might catch them with Counterparts next month now. Militarie Gun was a sick way to start the day, I'm really glad we decided to get to the fest earlier than we planned because they were wonderful. I saw myself on the Jumbotron a few times during Do It Faster, haha. GWAR was great but God that was the biggest crowd I've ever seen them play to at Riot, we left after 15 minutes because of how overstimulating it was. Funniest part was when they brought out Elon Musk for the set and they said, "Give us a break, we can't keep up with the headlines." Citizen sounded fantastic, I was really impressed with how much energy Mat had. Grabbed some lunch, went to the main stages and caught James playing "Laid" which I was really hoping would happen, haha. The Front Bottoms were their usual great selves, though I'm still not convinced the Back on Top anniversary was necessary, there seemed to be a lot of downtime where people were waiting for the hits. Dropkick Murphys was very fun, they were my first time seeing them after wanting to check them out for a long time and didn't disappoint. Jack White was phenomenal and easily the best set of the day. As someone who'd never seen him before I was skeptical but the sound was amazing and he did a fantastic job keeping the set moving. Weezer was really boring and underwhelming, especially as a headliner. We left after three songs because I just had no desire wading through the beginning of the set to get to the Blue album. Great day, looking forward to tomorrow!
Jack White killed it. Personally I think he blew Weezer out of the water. For as much as I enjoy Weezer’s music I always find their live show to be pretty boring. The Beach Boys was a fun time too. Fun sing along show, and awesome to see Stamos up there. Especially when he sang Forever. Also caught Gwar, Citizen and Knuckle Puck.
Rested and ready for a big last day. Wearing a black Weakerthans shirt and hoping the weather holds out again.
Getting there about halfway through the day to conserve some energy, but planning on watching The Linda Lindas, Dance Hall Crashers, Hanson, The Wonder Years, IDLES, Cobra Starship, Jawbreaker, and Green Day! Wearing a black Substance shirt (the movie from last year) and tan shorts.
I’m one of those weird Weezer apologists that make an excuse for all their faults(there’s a lot of them) but they legit sucked last night. They fucked up a lot and it was so phoned in. I bailed when blue started and watched the damned who fucking rocked.
I saw Weezer do the Blue Planet set in Boston last year. The setlist was better then, and the dialogue parts worked a lot better in a stadium setting. I still enjoyed the set last night, but it did feel underwhelming after the great Jack White & Beach Boy sets. Also the intro took way too long lol
