Oof, that's rough dude! Glad you're okay and hope you can make it to the festival!

I am really loving the Harrison Gordon stuff! So I'm excited to see them and I just saw today they're playing Boston in November so I might hit that up too depending on how much fun I have watching them. Hah.

Glad I'm not the only one WRT the Hold Steady. If there was nothing else going on, I'd happily sit and watch the whole thing but I really want to check out Rico Nasty so I'll probably dip after "Your Little Hoodrat Friend" to watch her if I'm being real about it.

The way Q101 is promoting these two events (and giving away tickets) is pretty much why I assumed the secret pop-up show band wasn't anybody major. But I couldn't articulate it at the time. LOL

Friday: shonen knife, big ass truck, barbarians (full set vs partial to be based on how much I like them tomorrownight opening for deftones), the tossers, puddles, camper van, Rico nasty, rilo Kiley, weird Al, blink with a bit of pogues somewhere in there

sarurday: speed of light, violent vira, still deciding between thrown or girl in a coma, militarie gun, helmet, small bits of pachinko & James, bouncing souls, Marky ramone, dropkick, jack white, weezer

Gonna be on the lookout for the Four Chord setlists over the weekend. Excited to see what the current Blink-182, Jawbreaker, and Wonder Years set lists look like!

(Okay, look, I think I'm mostly excited to see if Blink switches up a song or two.)

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Jawbreaker is changing their setlist each night. They did two nights in Anaheim last week and and both were different

always love it (ie- hate it) when you start getting into a new band, and latch onto one song in particular, and then find out they never play it live.. Earthsplitter by Big Ass Truck has been one of my favorite jams all summer but im sure its because its a collab with a The John Candy (who seems to be a Girl Talk-esque sample based dj) and would be hard to pull off live. but if you havent heard it yet, check it out! the Angel of the Morning drop is the best thing ive had in my ears this year, haha

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think blink may only have an hour and 15 minutes at Four Chord. So they may have to cut songs due to the shorter set, which shouldn’t be an issue at riot fest.

Anyone go last year that can tell me what Riot Land was like?

just the area where rebel used to be had a bunch of non-music, silly, photo OP type stuff: butter stamos sculpture, the arcade, the fake quik stop from clerks where you could actually buy water and stuff, the small riot museum that you could walk through and see relics from the past, the q101 booth was there with a shaded lounge, the big 'RIOTLAND' letters (like the hollywood sign )... curious to see what all makes it back and whats new

i think there was a Delorian randomly parked over there too. I really liked it for the 1/2 hour i spent over there, but its really only worth spending considerable time in if you have a long gap, or just want to do a quick run through to say you saw it. I do remember thinking it looked really cool at night with all the lights.

I'm also excited to finally ride a ride this year, haha. For every year I've been to Riot I assumed they were extra charge but very excited to watch Dropkick Murphys on the ferris wheel with my girlfriend :)

Harrison Gordon’s secret set at Fauxchella this year was insane. Someone had to get on the mic before the set started and beg people not to destroy the venue when it started. It was a floor show to probably 400 people in about 150 square feet of space lmao.
it was very whelming. Had some kinda cool and different stuff- but overall I’d much rather have seen that space be used for the rebel stage and that money go back into the lineup. Obviously early promises like “the largest festival bar of all time” “a fully licensed casino” and “a fully functional mall” never materialized lmao

  16. Are they not charging for rides anymore? I rode the ferris wheel at the Thursday pre-party they did in 2021 because it was free that day, but I never wanted to spend money on it otherwise.

smoking a joint on the ferris wheel while listening to Mom Jeans. play Death Cup was a perfect 5 minutes a few years ago. i had always wanted to do it during a band i liked, but anytime i got the urge the line was always long, so finally saw a time when i could just walk right on and it was great. i think i did pay for it though.

I still remember at my first Riot Fest in 2012, my buddy had won a giant stuffed hamster earlier in the day from one of the vendors and disappeared during Gogol Bordello's set. My partner and I weren't sure where he went and had a mild panic attack about it.

Five minutes later we both received a video via text of him riding the ferris wheel with the stuffed hamster and Gogol playing in the background. Haha.

But other than that I've pretty much steered clear of the rides and fenway games in all contexts. Not that I don't like ferris wheels or throwing balls at things... I'm just usually so loaded up on music that it's not worth the time.

Riot Land was worth it purely for the animatronic band playing Misfits covers. Anybody remember the name on that?
