What if the trio is talking about the trinity? Gwar, Andrew WK, and TBS? Not sure, just trying to think outside the box.
I liked the 2023 Bamboozle hints that were like “Don’t Panic! I’ve got another Confessional. My Chemicals caused a Fall Out that turned the Day Green and one to remember” And then it ended up being fraud, bankruptcy, and a puppet
Another thought: In referencing how much they love the "Riot bands," I wonder if they're referring to reunions by bands with members who have played Riot in the past but the bands reuniting have not...
If they do another “indie” day again I could see Vampire Weekend headlining. They are on Boston Calling and rumored to be on Bonnaroo (out tomorrow). They did two nights at Northerly last year (with lawn open) so there’s a high demand to see them in Chicago. Also at the end of their set they did a mini covers request set which I feel would be fun at Riot, if they did like a mini covers set of rock/punk songs.
In terms of indie headliners who could headline, it’s between those two and The Strokes (and the Killers if you call them indie) unless there are others I am blanking on. I think having one pop punk headliner (Green Day), one indie headliner/day (especially with Pitchfork done), and one alternative (think like The Cure) or metal headliner works well, covers thee different bases.
If that ends up being true what a crazy fucking weekend that will be in Chicago. Holiday weekend on top of all these shows. Oasis aug 28th. Mcr the 29th soad 31th Sept 1st nin 2nd
This St. Louis radio fest doesn’t realllly mean anything for Riotfest EXCEPT the notion that Ludo is finally playing shows that aren’t only Halloween weekend, so my long held hope they play riot is inching closer… also get The Urge on a line up already!
I'm sure it's easier to get the whole band on board in St. Louis, but I would love to see them again. Their Chicago show in 2022 was so much fun.
