Decided to not push myself during Riot Fest and skipping the aftershows. Bought our Costco vouchers and used them for Friday.

 

The smartest adult thing anyone can do. I’m proud of you. I wish I could mentally allow myself that.

 

My partner basically forces me into that. Haha. And she's generally correct... But there's a 100% chance we'd be going to that Bouncing Souls/H2O aftershow if I weren't so deadset on seeing all of Green Day.

 

I bought via Stubhub both days I went last year, you'll quite literally just get emailed a pdf of your ticket (I'd specifically look for "instant download" type tickets). It works just fine unless the person on the other end is being a piece of shit.

 

To be fair it is also the last weekend the White Sox have a home game so I'll probably be at the park on Saturday but that's chill compared to a late aftershow between two days of the festival.

 

Said I wasn’t doing any but instead got tickets to TFB and TAI… at presale, so I guess I lied.

yeah so much for canceling out conflicts during the actual fest...

 

Decided to sit out the aftershows — as much as I'd love to see Aaron West, I don't really want to be out until 1:00 AM.

 

Well, getting a trio ticket was a bust. If anyone has an extra let me know!

 

Maybe I'll hit up that Senses Fail show if "heavy ass deep cuts" is 50% Renacer and Thorns

He mentioned the set being a lot of those two albums plus the hits. It’s not Bayonet stuff lol

 

Oh I know, that last part was mostly a joke but I just put this Bayonet EP on while I'm working and it's reminding me how great it is

 

I’m not even that old but I’ve learned over the years I cannot do an aftershow and then get up the next day and do a full fest day, no matter what the festival is haha. In a dream world I wish aftershows could happen, just like, not after a full day of a music festival and so late in the night but that’s the way it goes.

 

The Costco Riot tickets are doing great. 5 locations already have another batch on order. It’s funny to see how little the southern/northern burbs barely move any tickets.

 

I wonder if this is a bit or if they really do not have him booked lol

It would be the ultimate troll for him to not actually be booked and not show up.

 

He plays on/off with The Beach Boys, so I’m expecting him to be there. I think that’s solely why The Beach Boys were booked

Right, that is what you would think, they were booked solely because of the John Stamos connection, but unless I have missed something (and it is possible), they have not explicitly said “with John Stamos” or “John Stamos will also be there” (yet).

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Stamos been touring with The Beach Boys all summer as their drummer?

 

I feel like we'll be talking about this every two weeks until the festival but... The Beach Boys released the dates on which he'd be drumming. It was a few east coast dates earlier in the summer and a few west coast dates in early August.

So no Riot Fest for Stamos... Unless it does wind up being a bit and it's some surprise appearance. So I don't know that I'd fully rule it out but feels less likely.

 

Posting this separately so it didn't feel buried but... Fuck this iteration of the Beach Boys. They played a Trump fundraiser. And more recently, Mike Love, specifically played for Trump at Mar-A-Lago.

Watch the Dropkick Murphys and the Damned instead.

 

I think it is a stupid booking regardless but I understand being committed to the bit if they were booked with Stamos performing. I just think if he was confirmed Riot Fest would have outright said it from the start because of the years long bit they have had about their love for him and him performing at the festival. If he ends up not performing then I will question the booking way more because that spot could have gone to any number of extremely talented bands.

I'm with you! I just hesitate to rule it out completely as a "surprise" of sorts... Or something the band hasn't announced themselves yet. For the Beach Boys themselves it feels more like an afterthought. Which I also fully understand. Haha.

I think it's a corny booking for multiple reasons. But I wouldn't call it a "waste" still because it's a draw of sorts and it does fit in well with the other main stage acts that day. Just not for me.

 

I'm more excited about seeing what band(s) CM Punk hops out on the mic for, TBH. LOL
