That was one of my first questions too! They could play their album twice in that time! And it isn’t like they have a ton of other material. What, are they going to do a long jam band version of God Saves the Queen or something?
It was pretty okay! The spacing was great for the most part. Especially Rise. Radical was tricky to get to toward the end of the day so if you want to get close around/after sunset you might want to get there a bit early but... It worked pretty well, IMHO!
Are the main stages next to each other too? The only time I've been to Riot was in 2021 when they were on opposite ends of the field. Made it so easy to walk up to the main stage a minute before the headliner and still get a good spot. I'm guessing being side by side it might be a pain in the butt jumping from sets like Knocked Loose to Blink and still get a good view.
Usually they are right next to each other, but 2021 was the other time it was set up like this. Usually it's the two main stages side by side, and then 3 other stages in other spots. So it may end up being more like 2021 this year.
I think it'll be like last year where the main stages are next to each other, Rise and Radical are next to each other, and Rebel is on the left side of the park.
Oh wait... it was like this last year wasn't it haha well that makes more sense, it'll definitely be the same again then.
Friday: Touche Amore, Camper Van Beethoven, Harms Way, Rico Nasty, Rilo Kiley, a little Weird Al, Knocked Loose, Blink 182 Saturday: Militarie Gun, The Cribs, GWAR, Citizen, Bouncing Souls/James, The Front Bottoms/Knuckle Puck, Dropkick Murphys, Jack White, Sex Pistols/Weezer Sunday: Smoking Popes, The Ataris, Dance Hall Crashers, Hanson, The Wonder Years/Cobra Starship/IDLES, Jawbreaker, Green Day
I just realized that Knocked Loose starts 25 minutes after Weird Al. Nice I can actually catch the beginning of his set!
I'm just realizing that Gym Class Heroes' set is only 30 minutes. Isn't that kind of short for a midday slot? Keeping my expectations low for them lol
I wouldn't be shocked if they gave Sex Pistols 90 minutes literally just to fit all of this nonsense on the schedule lmao
Usually bands in a slot around that time will do 45-60. Depends on the artist and what they signed on to do, though. I’m guessing 30 minutes is all they need for the GCH hits plus 3-4 Travie solo tracks. And to be fair, that's all your average person wants from them anyway so... I get it. LOL! When you put it that way… Maybe we all should have been nicer to Sublime with Rome?
Current thinking schedule-wise after sitting with it a bit feels really strong. This honestly worked out real good with a few minor quibbles. When bands are divided by a '/' it means I'm pretty unsure about how hard we'll commit to any one set. Some of those have potential to shift hard between now and September. Friday: Shonen Knife, Harrison Gordon, Barbarians of California, Julia Wolf, first ~20 of Touché Amoré, Samiam, last bit of Camper Van Beethoven, Hold Steady/Rico Nasty, Senses Fail, first ~30 of Alkaline Trio, mix of "Weird Al" and Stiff Little Fingers, and Blink-182 Saturday: Cliffdiver, Wishy, first few Agent Orange songs, Militarie Gun/H2O, Free Throw, Superchunk, last bit of Helmet, Citizen, the Bouncing Souls, the Front Bottoms, first ~30 of Dropkick Murphys, the Damned, Weezer Sunday: Footballhead, Dune Rats, end of Chase Petra, Quannnic/Zero Boys, first 10-15 of Smoking Popes, Pegboy, the Ataris/Lambrini Girls, Dance Hall Crashers, Screeching Weasel, Bad Religion, end of the Wonder Years, Texas is the Reason, Jawbreaker, Green Day Looking forward to changing my mind on this in like, 20 minutes. LOL
Friday: shonnen knife, big ass truck, barbarians of CA, the tossers, puddles, camper van Beethoven, agnostic front/rico nasty split, sparks, rilo, weird Al, blink / pogues split saturday: speed of light, violent vira, girl in a coma, militarie Gunn, helmet, James/marky split, dropkick, jack white (probably from the weezer side), weezer Sunday: dune rats, pegboy, still deciding between Linda’s/ataris/soft play, lambrini girls, DHC, bad religion, idles, jawbreaker/inhaler split, Green Day Full 3 days, some of these may be from the back, sitting, haha
It just occurred to me that if we're correct in assuming that All Time Low replaced Yellowcard on the lineup, that means there would have been a Jack White vs. Yellowcard conflict. That would've had me pulling my hair out for sure.
When they played WWWY a few years ago, they had a 30 minute spot, started late, and played 5 songs. Temper your expectations.
Set list for the first date of weird Al’s tour, and he is known to rarely deviate since so much go into his shows, so good guide of what to put on your playlist “Weird Al” Yankovic Setlist at The Venetian Theatre, Las Vegas
He usually doesn't deviate, you're right, but the last tour he did was a different set every night. But that was meant to be deep cuts, etc. So I'm guessing this tour is different. And I'll keep my fingers-crossed for that because... My plan of watching the first 30-45 minutes of his set and popping over for the rest of Stiff Little Fingers would work perfectly. That run of "Everything You Know is Wrong" through the medley is pretty fucking perfect. That's got the 3/4 songs I'd want to see the most right in there. Gonna be curious to see if we get a full set posted live at some point to see timestamps because this almost seems too good to be true. Hah.
It looks like Green Day has started sprinkling some Lookout era songs back in. My delusion is that they are getting them ready to do at least a Lookout era portion for their Riot Fest set. But in reality I would be stoked if they played at least one of the songs.
Someone recommended Wishy to me and they might be a staple on my playlists this summer. Their newest EP is so good Also this song reminds me so much of The Japanese House: Too bad their set is at 12:30 and I'll most likely not make it in time.
Wishy's earlier releases were pretty hit or miss for me. The tracks were either full-on bangers or total misses. The new stuff feels like they've leveled up because, yeah, it's ridiculously good! And pairs nicely withe the Paradise EP. Definitely making sure I get there in time to see them and feeling kinda sad I missed them at Something in the Way earlier this year.
