I would absolutely love if Blink plays unopposed, but with the 10pm curfew I can't see that happening. Has Riot ever done unopposed headliners? Also I'm flying in Friday morning so I'm selfishly hoping that nothing good happens before 5pm lol
I was surprised there are no Chicago dates while in the area. Maybe they were in talks but it didnt work? Or maybe thats part of the announcement this week!
The Cure played without any overlaps in 2023 from what I remember. Also MCR had a small overlap with Marky Ramone at the beginning of their set, but it was mainly unopposed
Maybe they could be an aftershow? I certainly thought it was weird that this tour lined up perfectly for them to play, but they weren’t on the lineup
I was a little perplexed about no Chicago date on that tour, but didn't even notice how perfectly it lined up with Riot.
That La Dispute tour is short and hard. They're doing like, 4-5 days in a row. Only thing I might say is that adding Riot would make it six days in a row with that run which... I dunno, man. That is a lot. I'd imagine Chicago would be part of a second wave rather than Riot based on that. (That and I'd imagine if there were a date TBA part of that leg that they'd have it blurred out or something.)
South Loop can be sketchy near the L entrances/exits but overall they’ve been trying to clean the place up so it’s up and coming a little bit. Try Eleven City. Great breakfast food.
I just saw that notification, read that it said "daily li--" and clicked on it assuming they had dropped. Then I couldn't find the alert anymore and was bummed. Haha. Excited to see what Thursday brings! But hoping we get a few more tour drops between now and then that let us know what bands are playing when, hah.
I did the exact same thing! Didn’t see anything on their socials so I came here to see what I missed by not reading the full message.
same, i chalked it up to them giving people with the app a teeny tiny heads up before it goes on socials.
Looks amazing! Kinda hoping we switch hotels just to get food there, TBH. Because it won't be happening otherwise. LOL LFG. Lobby waffles are the new pop-punk!
Wondering if we’ll get any info on the Weird Al stuff Riot Mike was saying be on the lookout for with the daily lineups.
Dang, just checked and the Hilton Garden Inn I booked is a different location! On Grand Ave in River North.
If they handle it the way they handled NOFX last year then I don't think we'll necessarily get much more information with the dailies beyond who might be on the stage (and it seems like we already have a decent idea of that, honestly). And keep in mind that Riot Mike always tends to hype these things up just a bit too much in those interviews. What he considers a "big surprise" is potentially not much. It could just be that Emo Phillips is MCing that stage all day and that Al helped them curate that stage. Or maybe he's got a special set list planned or something. Thinking on this too, I'm actually remembering like 2-4 years ago in some interview... Riot Mike mentioned they had booked somebody they'd been hoping to get for a while but it's so hard because "he books a year or more in advance" (or something like that). But when the line-up dropped it seemed like that artist wasn't in the mix. I remember at the time everybody speculated that it was Al so I'll be curious if anything else comes out about the booking process this year. I say that because I get the sense that some artists were drawn in by the gestalt of the whole thing this year. And I'd be interested in knowing if they've ever gotten close to, say, booking Green Day before. Or whether for other artists like Blink and Weezer it was just a quick phone call and the deal was done the next day.
The Damned posted that they are playing on Saturday. Edit: Agent Orange is also playing on Saturday per their booker’s website.
Anyone feel like staring at the shape/ size of those subheadliners to find out a few hours early what conflicts we’re mad about?
