Dailies plus single-day tickets would make sense. Maybe a bit more info on the grounds this year? The fact that they're posting about it the week before is making me think there might be something else in addition to the dailies. But we're definitely not getting another headliner. Leave it to Reddit to count the number of eyes (20) and assume the Misfits are coming back...
Then they will be upset when the announcement doesn’t include more bands just like with the announcement of the album plays.
Might be a dumb question but I’m not THAT well versed in what “20 eyes” might have to do with Misfits. Any insight? Edit: Nevermind… song title. I am an idiot.
Never apologEYES for your art. Which is strange because it’s pretty obvious from the poster, etc. that there aren’t more coming. But still. Getting the dailies will send schedule speculation into a flurry for a few days! I’m excited. This is all a nice change of pace from the stress of last year’s venue shifts, etc.
They were stone-silent today. Guessing they get more active tomorrow and whatever it is winds up being announced on Wednesday.
Looking into a new hotel this year because I just found what looks like a decent deal ($300 cheaper than our currently reserved hotel by the Riverwalk). The Hilton Garden Inn on 55 E 11th Street by Grant Park. Neighborhood looks safe/fine by my eyes with some decent options for quick snacks or breakfast with vegan options... But wanted to check-in with some locals before booking because it's non-refundable. Any issues with the area? Mostly asking about traffic and if shit closes super early in the area or whatever.
Not a local but am from Indy and have spent enough time in Chicago to confidently say that looks like a perfect spot. It’s very much part of downtown and would be a doable walk to/from Reggie’s if you want to ride their bus and maybe see an aftershow there. Honestly I might book there too EDIT: parking might be an arm and a leg but that’s gonna be the case anywhere but the suburbs. I would probably just leave my car in one spot and uber/bike/take the Reggie’s bus everywhere
I have been in that area many, many times. The south loop is decent. There have been incidents at the l stations there before, but you can probably say that about a lot of the stations. Plus it is walkable to museum campus. if you do stay there, then you can also take the Roosevelt bus all the way back too. They have them waiting outside the fest at night. That is what I used to do to get home back when I lived closer to the loop.
We're flying in from out-of-town so parking isn't a worry for us. Thanks for the feedback both! I think you've sold me. Having access to a bus would be a first for us. And being walkable to the museums would be a nice bonus for Thursday or Monday!
Rilo Kiley's tour poster says they're on Friday (which I think we assumed anyway based on the Florida date on Sunday).
Ha I think that's where I'm staying! Seemed like a good location and for a Hilton seemed too low a price to ignore.
God damnit. Blink, Rilo AND Knocked Loose are all on Friday. Those are literally my top 3 must sees. No way there isn't a stage conflict there.
Plus Weird Al. I'm banking on Rilo Kiley doing a pre/aftershow on Thursday so I can at least resolve that part of the inevitable conflict.
There's a scenario where Blink-182, Knocked Loose, and Weird Al are all playing at the same time. Riot Fest fucking rules. Haha. I'm really wondering how things wind up getting staggered. My hope is that Al is on mostly during the Sex Pistols so we can catch a solid chunk of Blink's set. Also, regarding Rilo Kiley? I'm thinking about where bands on Friday are falling and... Would they make sense on that Weird Al stage?
I’m thinking the weird al stage will have sparks, Rilo and weird al in that order. I just don’t see a scenario where Rilo gets jammed into a stage with blink or knocked loose.
I think Rilo Kiley will close the Roots Stage (or whatever they’re calling it now) and there’s a chance both Blink and Green Day play unopposed. If not, I could see it just being them and Weird Al playing after 9.
Friday is so top heavy and if you throw Sex Pistols and trio into the mix I have no idea how they make it work. Love it.
