Yeah I think all those work. Citizen could slide on there too. H2O/AF if they don't pair them up with the Souls
It's a sad year because I really want to see all 3 headliners and I know they're going to conflict with a bunch of shit that obviously has to close a stage (Weird Al)
This is what I mean! There's a lot of different options for where different artists could be slotted in... If they go with the trend of keeping touring bands together I could easily see a stage of Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, the Bouncing Souls, Agnostic Front, H2O, and one of the older Chicago bands. But could also see the Souls on the main stage on Sunday. Or H2O on the main stage with Blink/Alk3.
I always enjoyed The Hold Steady in small doses and from afar, but man this is my first time listening to 'Separation Sunday' and this is pretty great.
I'm curious to see where The Paradox land on the schedule. Pretty low on the poster and felt like a Noon stage opener band, but their new single has been crushing it this past couple of weeks. Some of the lyrics are cringey but no denying that hook is pop punk gold:
Yeah, I'd imagine they'll be first on whatever stage they're on. And they would make a ton of sense on the Blink stage but could be slotted in elsewhere too.
I was considering going to Riot possibly two days this year but with Lorde here on Friday and Ethel Cain here on Saturday…I might just go to Riot on Sunday now.
I liked In Sickness and In Flames too, but yeah same sentiment. Listening to this and I'm just a little perplexed.
The lines about the nudes on snap and hitting him with the subaru are absolute gold. Agreed on the cringe lyrics but this song is catchy as all hell
I'm 29 but all my friends who were into them around my age checked out after Talon of the Hawk. I was debating seeing them but not for an album play of this.
I'm sure some are, but definitely not me. Talon of the Hawk was my album of the year when it came out, and Back On Top was such a huge letdown. I've soured on the band for other reasons over the years, but I still had a good time seeing them play the older stuff last time they were at Riot.
Speaking of Chicago... Has anybody explored any of the "old head" Illinois/Chicago bands on the bill this year? I am ecstatic about seeing Pegboy again and have been listening to the album they're playing pretty incessantly since the announcement. It's pretty wild listening and hearing specific moments that highlight where Rise Against and Alkaline Trio picked up certain tricks. Haha. And, they don't really do much for me but... Learning that the Didjits is the same band covered by the Offspring on Smash was pretty fun ("Killboy Powerhead").
Not a Chicago band but I’m excited to see Zero Boys! I’m from Indy but have never seen them before since they’re so old and mostly inactive. Pretty sure they’ve only done 2 hometown shows in the last 10 years.
They way my jaw dropped when I realized that's who did this song. And now I'm listening to them for the first time and am superrr into this.
