I remember when they first booked The Cure and NIN and this wasn’t part of the discourse at all. They booked The Cure the year after they played Lolla in 2013 and NIN a few years after they played Lolla.

They’ve always been able to book Lolla headliner level acts.

Now since Green Day is booked, it’s time to bet on our next Riot Fest White Whale:

    Tool

The white whale is probably Metallica at this point

I do wanna add that at this point, I think the question going forward for headliners is “is ____ available to play?” instead of “is ____ too big for Riot?”

Foo Fighters headlining def changed the game a bit, I think

I could see Riot getting Metallica, Pearl Jam, and Tool in the future. I could also see them getting SOAD and No Doubt again

    Must be Op Ivy reunion

  9. Fugazi reunion (which will never happen in general but especially not for Riot)

I think you're mostly right. Riot could snag Pearl Jam and Tool. Probably System and No Doubt again too.

But I still think Metallica is out of reach. They're another level above those other artists. They do multiple nights in football stadiums.

I think you can probably cut out Militarie Gun for the same reason you cut out Honey Revenge. They have more than one album but their "big" album is only like, two years old... And they'll have a new album out by then that I'm sure they'll want to play tracks off of.

The rest all seems to make sense to me. But Samiam also said that they had more info around their performance which to me means they might be in the mix for an album set too. So I'm not sure that only having one song would rule them out. I'd throw the Ataris and Smoking Popes in the mix as well (and maybe Marky Ramone doing a Ramones album front-to-back?)

My dream is Green Day, Jawbreaker, Dance Hall Crashers, and Samiam on the same stage. Could also see them going for a vibe with the Sex Pistols, the Damned, Buzzcocks, and Stiff Little Fingers on the same stage.

If you have never seen both Blink-182 and Green Day live and had to choose between one or the other to see (likely my scenario since I’m likely going to Ethel Cain that weekend so will probs not do all days of Riot), who would you choose? Who is the better of the two live?

I mean, I prefer Green Day over Blink (and think they are stronger than Blink live) but I guess I’d choose Blink. Tom being back makes it more worth it. Green Day, unless they do their Dookie/AI set, will likely just play their basic fest set, which isn’t anything to write home about

Green Day. Hands down and without any hesitation. Blink is a fine band but they're honestly pretty "meh" live.

Obviously, if you like one more than the other that might sway things but... It's Green Day all day if you're going by which is better live.

Green Day, for sure. Absolute pros and still sound consistent as ever. Blink definitely sounds better than they did back in the day (their first reunion tour blew me away), but sometimes the vocal performances depend show by show.

Actually, you know what? I change my answer. See Green Day

I think Blink will consistently be active for the foreseeable future, so you may have the chance to see them soon in the near future. Green Day on the other hand, will probably take a 1-3 year break in-between album cycles after this year like they usually do so you may not get the chance to see them again for a while. Do Green Day

I really hope they go back to the 2021 stage setup so people aren’t getting crushed to death trying to get close for Blink and Green Day

Went through the entire lineup and found some cool stuff! Really liked what I listened to from Thrown and Speed of Light!

I need to do it again because I just took a speed run but... Yeah, there's some cool stuff in there!

I think the most "interesting" find for me thus far was just that one of the older Chicago punk bands on the line-up, the Didjits, wrote that song "Killboy Powerhead" the Offspring covered on Smash! I know that song's a cover... But I always forget who does it. Pretty fun, though.

I was packing for my move last night and had the official playlist on, and a Speed of Light song came on that had me drop everything and check my phone to see who it was. Definitely gonna look into them

Yeah, I'm doing a day of this. I'm expecting the day I would go is the same day as for when I have Ethel Cain tickets so this will be fun.
