Now that I’ve had more time to digest the lineup, here are my thoughts no one’s asked for: -Headliners might be some of the strongest they’ve had. Super cool they finally got Green Day and Jack White is a pleasant surprise! -This is now the third time Weezer has done the Blue Album at Riot -Funny how Riot managed to get the openers for Deftones’ fall tour, but not Deftones themselves… -About time Helmet finally played again -SHUDDER TO THINK! -Hanson and James are super weird, even for Riot standards -No Pulp or TSOAF is super weird considering touring routing for both bands made it 100% possible. Wonder if something happened behind the scenes? - @alkalinexandy your dream came true. Dance Hall Crashers! -Funny how Jawbreaker was headliner in 2017 and now they’re on the third line of the undercard (and I get why, but still funny to see) But yeah, this lineup rips. I have a few people interested in going, so maybe I might be able to make it work this year…
It's very obvious to me that Beach Boys are playing because John Stamos is playing with them so I think thats a great and perfect fit Biggest bummer is no Set Your Goals
DHC being there is also a cool get since it didn't seem like they were doing more than those one off shows.
I’m also curious to see what tours will come from this lineup. The Souls and H2O both being on makes it seem like another leg of the ECFU tour will go down. Maybe Green Day has a small-scale tour this fall with The Linda Lindas?
I am so excited for DHC! I really believed them when they said they weren’t playing any other festival!
2 hours in, im still not really feeling this one overall. more thoughts noone asked for: the headliners are a really cohesive and tight grouping, and all great bands, but doesnt really 'excite' me, doesnt have that 'only at riot fest' uniqueness ive come to love. the emo phillips, mac sabbath, puddles pity party sparks, weird al stage is gonna be legendary been said already but lack of metal (of all kinds), hip hop, posthardcore/screamo, and front women are all a bit of let down when sorting the undercard and i remove the usual suspects of bands i love but ive already seen multiple times at riot (bouncing souls, alk3, dropkick, bad religion..) it gets even thinner for me. i know its beloved on this forum and im the outlier, but the more modernish poppunk scene (knuckle puck, academy is, all time low, wonder years, microwave, etc..) is not my bag at all some of the old school bookings - sex pistols, rilo kiley, james, dance hall crashers, the damned, screeching weasel, the pogues, are all bands on my 'would see' list, but none with enough 'holy shit' pull for me to make the trip there is time for me to change my mind. gonna still make a playlist and sit with it for a few weeks. love that others are super into it though, not trying to rain on any parades, at all!
Lil disappointed about being 0/2 here... but it is kinda funny that the three headliners make up about 75% of all the music I listened to when I was 15, with the other 25% being Oasis, whomst I'm seeing a few weeks before Riot.
Ah yeah. FOW not being on the lineup is also disappointing. Are there gonna be more shows from them this year? So far they only have two fests
Not sure! Maybe they'll see how the festival shows go and decide from there? Max from Eve 6 is playing bass for them and I vaguely remember him getting into it with the riot twitter a few years back, so maybe that kept them off? Doubtful, but still kind of a funny thought.
Not that I need even more possible conflicts but Yellowcard and Harm’s Way getting added later would be great.
Someone in the tour thread mentioned a probable Academy Is/Cobra/Gym Class tour coming out of this with the 20 year for Almost Here and that makes a lot of sense to me.
If green day promises to play a more unique set im in. This is a great lineup. Closest to getting me back in many many years.
Eve 6 and RF have been known to get in Twitter spats, but I think it's all in good fun. I don't think there's any bad blood there, although RF legit doesn't seem to have any interest in booking Eve 6 (which is fine by me) lol
Here’s my tier list. Not my thing but might check out Rilo Kiley Weezer Jack White Weird Al Ol’ Reliable Bad Religion Citizen Smoking Popes H2O Cliffdiver Excited to see, but will become a can’t miss if they announce an album play Green Day Knuckle Puck Free Throw Never seen them, gotta check them off the list Cobra Starship Gym Class Heroes Texas Is the Reason Dance Hall Crashers Screeching Weasel Superchunk Agent Orange Zero Boys Top 10 fav bands, but I’ve seen them a lot The Wonder Years Knocked Loose Microwave Will Kill Myself if I miss their set Jawbreaker Touché Amore
My must see list as of now: Blink 182, Knocked Loose, Jack White, Rilo Kiley, Weezer and The Academy Is. If Yellowcard is really getting added you can toss them on that must see list too.
Might sell my VIP passes for this one. The only name that gets me out of my seat above Weird Al is Sparks. This is their worst set of headliners, which I’m surprised based on 2024 headliners. Below Weird Al is actually pretty solid. So if I do go I’ll either leave after 5pm or dig some holes in the park until 10pm or something.
I've been lurking here for a while and enjoying everyone's guesses and responses. You've all made my desk job more tolerable these past few weeks. I think this is a great lineup. If you're a pop-punk fan I think it's even better for you. It's a little bit of a bummer for me since I don't like Blink 182 and have seen Weezer and Green Day multiple times, so there's not big headliner for me. Weird Al and The Beach Boys are nice bonuses for me. I love Bad Religion, but was hoping for Social Distortion. The only thing is it seems to be lacking a 20th anniversary "surprise" or big headliner. My final hope is that Lucky Boys Confusion gets added. Side note; do we share Tixr Reward links here? Is that allowed or are you a chump if you share those?
