Maybe? The Chicago date did sell out pretty quickly and is at a small venue.

Would be cool! But there's also a shot that those remaining days are open because the band wants to hang out at the festival... They also strike me as a pretty perfect band to do an aftershow at Shaky Knees.

That tour schedule looks pretty light overall.

Hah! That would be such a big fuck-up... I'm honestly a little surprised at how tight-lipped things have been this year. Usually there's a few more mix-ups and other chatter happening.

Real curious as to where it all lands tomorrow. There's so much in the "pretty likely" category that they can't all be happening.

Have we considered a Dave/Krist Nirvana set with guest singers?

If that were to happen I'm pretty sure it would be at Lolla, Coachella, or whatever. And I think that's a pretty big "if." They've done it a few times and only ever for pretty special occasions. I'm not convinced it'll ever happen in a major way.

Maybe if Riot had more of a relationship with any of the folks involved I might be willing to entertain it. But as it stands I just don't see it.

I see Reddit has now proposed this.

I gotta say, this speculation year is the best. We don’t know SHIT.

I’m absolutely loving hardly having any booked artists pinned down.

But it got me thinking, since some of the lineups came out later due to securing park permits, is it possible certain artists dropped or didn’t accept to play because of not having a location secured?

This may be a silly question, but genuinely curious.

I think maybe a small number who couldn't possibly wait for payment did but we'd never know. There's a lot of moving pieces on booking a festival and sometimes the interest is there for a bit and then it dies off for any number of reasons.

But knowing that the festival is committed to staying in Douglass Park for a number of years now, rather than every year being "Well, I guess, maybe, I dunno" - that helps a whole lot to ensure it's going to happen.

I’m getting major 2017 energy. The 3rd headliner has gotta be someone we’d all love but never expect. I’m planting my flag.

It was incredibly dumb and short-sighted for Riot Mike to organize this every year at Douglass Park like a street festival and fight with the Park District rather than one of our big annual festivals. I'm glad he learned. I'm sure losing Pitchfork gave some incentive for the Park District to have a longer term contract.

Blink is the only headliner I'm 100% confident of right now

It's pretty dope. Reminds me a lot of how things were for the 2017 roll out. And that's the one that brought Jawbreaker back. Haha. I'm a bit nervous that my expectations might be too high or that certain things just aren't happening (e.g., Weird Al, Green Day)... But everything is pointing in the right direction, so might as well be optimistic?

It's always the undercard that really sucks me in, anyway.

I really hope it’s Green Day. I went a long time thinking they were too big for Riot, but Foo Fighters headlining threw that out the window.

With numerous other 90’s punk bands that play this every year, I think it’s time for Green Day

I also think it's worth noting that they had Foo Fighters and the Cure in the same year. Neither of those are cheap gets. And Saturday had a strong set of direct support acts plus three "smaller" headliners (DCFC, PS, and QOTSA).

I don't think it's a matter of financials. Just timing.

They’re gonna throw us all off for thinking Green Day and Blink together is too big by booking Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney.

    Final Prediction

    Blink-182/Vampire Weekend
    Green Day/LCD Soundsystem/PULP
    Deftones/Bring Me The Horizon

    and a weak undercard lmao

I don’t see Vampire Weekend or LCD Soundsystem playing as anything other than a headliner. Vampire Weekend did two nights at Northerly last year with the lawn open and both nights were very crowded and LCD Soundsystem did four nights at the Aragon last year. Just can’t see either as sub headliners for a non major festival in 2025, even if they are below Blink and Green Day. I feel like either would want to headline their own day.

I honestly find Vampire Weekend pretty unlikely. They've got two festival dates already that weekend so it would have to be Friday. And they're dates around festivals tend to be pretty loose (meaning there's usually just one per weekend).

LCD Sound System feels way more likely to me. And I'm kind of assuming, like most years, Riot is going to shoot for one "indie"-style headliner.

That said, we all might actually be overestimating both of these bands as headliners. LCD Soundsystem is playing Sea Hear Now under Hozier... And Vampire Weekend is under DMB at Boston Calling.

So I think they'd both be willing to play under Green Day or Blink. But I think the more likely option is they pair LCD with somebody heavier (e.g., BMTH) and do more of a co-headliner thing.
