Oh, fuck yes! Rad get. What podcast? EDIT: Nevermind. Found a reference to it on Reddit. Usual mistake that bands make this time of year. LOL
My take on this is that the past few years they havent been an exclsuive set for Riot Fest, but mostly bands that were already touring that album.
Yeah I’m happy to see Pulp is gonna be on. I was for sure thinking they’d be on last year since they were in the states around Riot. Looks like I was just a year off…
Anyone think with Pulp now all but locked that gives LCD a better chance? I mean, I feel like that’s still up in the air but it doesn’t hurt.
Not seeing full dates anywhere yet, but a St. Louis venue just posted this putting Pixies in the Midwest right before riot, so I’d say possible unless they have another Chicago date I missed somewhere
So are we thinking they actually do a teaser video this year? Or maybe clue #5? At first, I thought the Q101 videos might be taking the place of that but there's nothing discernible in them.
Sebadoh is looking to be out. NE shows during Riot weekend interestingly, they said TBA for Sept 20, so they could technically do it, but it’d be a rough feat
The post specifically saying “northeast” makes me think it’ll be NJ or CT or something. But yeah if they did the fest that would be a pretty manic weekend. LOL
I had a dream last night that blink was the Friday headliner and where scheduled to play self titled in full
2 million attendees and almost 1100 bands over 6 cities and 20 years is crazy given how riot fest first started out
Holy shit at the Bouncing Souls getting the shine in that video! If they weren't a lock before... LOL I remember seeing the line-up in 2010 and thinking: "Oh cool, it's like Fest but in the middle of the country. A bunch of punk bands playing venues and local bars." Then in 2011 there was the ramp-up and some diversification with Weezer, Social D, X, Helmet, etc. And then the real move outdoors in 2012. It's been a really cool, gradual growth with logical expansion. Super fun to watch and be a part of as an attendee. Hah.
Last time The Bouncing Souls played, my friend who I was hanging with who is a huge fan dragged me to see them (I had never listened prior) and it was a fun time but shortly after they started I got super dehydrated and had to leave to go hydrate myself and didn’t have the energy to go back, so I’ll probably rectify that and see them this year.
I've seen the Souls countless times and I can count on one hand the number of times they didn't put on a stellar live show. And all of those times were during a very specific era over a decade ago, hah. They're always a blast at festivals. And they know how to perfectly curate a festival set list.
